One more Halloween has come and gone (*sniff* *sniff*) and 2018 itself is wrapping up, so right now we’re doing two things: (1) looking forward to next Halloween and (2) looking back at our favorite costumes from the past year. We love ready-to-wear Halloween costumes—we’d better, it’s our job!—but we also love the DIY spirit. You know, creativity, ingenuity, and passion all wrapped up…into a costume! So let’s take a look at some of the best costumes we saw this year!

Here’s Hamm and his cousin Audrey as Slinky, the toy Daschund from Toy Story. Watch the whole video, it’s pretty much the definition of adorable.

Ashley and Jared of Sugar & Cloth dressed themselves and their little Gwen as Hungry Hungry Hippos this year. Ashley put together a great tutorial on making your own HHH costumes and they took a ton of great photos.

The Violet Beauregarde makeup tutorial was a huge hit this year, perhaps because it was so unexpected.

Okay, we’re sure you saw that one coming. Also from Stephanie Pokorny of Crochetverse, because she has two children that require awesome crocheted costumes!

Fortnite was a hit this Halloween, but our favorite was this custom Tricera Ops costume!
