Zombie movies, zombie video games, zombie TV shows...zombie themed media seems to have infected nearly every facet of pop culture, and you know what? We wouldn't have it any other way! We have traced this genre's epidemic spread from its roots in the 1920's, all the way to present times. (Just in time for The Walking Dead season premiere this Sunday!) Just remember rule #20: It’s a marathon, not a sprint, unless it’s a sprint, then sprint!

One of the most iconic sets on The Walking Dead (heck, maybe all of TV!) is the Governor's secret chill pad... the one that has an entire wall composed of decomposed zombie heads in fish tanks. We loved this so much that we thought it would make for some absolutely creepy and actually pretty easy DIY Halloween decor! Not gonna lie, after we finished we had the urge to just sit back, relax, and watch the tank for a couple hours...

Finished Look

If you want to make your own, this is how we did it!

• First, we got an empty 10 gallon fish tank. Many of you probably have one of these lying around stored away somewhere from when you once had that hampster (we know, tragic story, sorry to bring it up), but in case you don't have one they're not too expensive at your local big box store.

• Then we took our prop zombie heads and placed them in the tank. After that, we just added water. The heads have to soak up a lot of the water before they stop floating, but we also put a lid on top so they couldn't bob up too far.

• Next, we put in a tiny, TINY, bit of white acrylic paint to give the water that murky look. 

• Last, we placed a black light underneath for the perfect eerie glow.

And Voila! You have some wicked Halloween decor that will be appreciated by Walking Dead fans, or really anyone with a keen eye for frightened props. We recommend placing it up at the bar at your party, or in the windows of your house, so all the neighbors can see what you're into these days.

Yes, we really did use a Bieber Fever Wig. We liked the way it floated in the water!

We put a sexy female spin on the leading characters from Breaking Bad and Duck Dynasty with a few simple DIY steps. You can easily recreate these looks for yourselves and we'll show you how. Achieving this look is surprisingly straight-forward - right down to the yellow boot covers!

• The dress was made by simply cutting off the bottom portion of the jumpsuit just below the zipper. (First dotted line pictured above.)
• You may cut where you please to achieve the desired length.
• To create the boot covers cut off both legs of the yellow pants (along the second dotted line above), and flip them upside down. There is already built-in elastic so it's really that easy!

Our officially licensed Uncle Si costume is extra awesome, since it already includes a hat and glasses, both of which we put to good use in creating this look. The vest has an attached adjustable strap which you can tie in front to create the main portion of this costume. Almost done!

• Sub out the included facial hair for our two-toned white and grey wig, to make your style extra scintillating.
• Add a blaze orange tutu for a hunting culture-inspired girly detail!
• Layer in some over-the-knee stockings in white, to tie in the white color of the wig.
• Drive your ducky point home with some fake ducks! We found these at a pet shop (yes, they squeak).

Uncle Si's signature beard is...well...signature. Since we subbed in a white wig, we wanted to have a white beard to match. Of course having a perma-beard on Halloween is not one of the most sexy things for a young lady, so we put it on a stick! That way you can hold it to your face for pictures, and take it down to sip on a cocktail witih ease. To make one of these cutie-patootie props for yourself:

• Trim our White Moustache set to the desired length.
• Hot glue one side of the trimmed facial hair to our black cigarette holder prop, or another suitable black stick.

Large Breed Dogs

Unlike your typical lap dog, many large breed dogs have never been dressed up by their owners. Larger dogs might put up a fuss over a costume that feels too confining so we recommend costumes that tie around the neck but don't have to go over the whole body. Our Superman or Batman dog costumes are nice choices for bigger dogs. A loose-fitting NFL jersey costume can work well too (and, again, can add a little extra warmth) and can be used throughout the rest of the football season as well!

Since the release of the film in 1942, a certain little deer has been warming our hearts. Bambi, future Great Prince of the Forest, takes us down a long road of loss, love, and coming of age. If you are looking to take it to the next level with your costume, you can try our more elaborate Day of the Dead makeup tutorial. No worries though, we have broken down all the steps to make it a painless process. First assemble all the necessary makeup elements:

• (2) Eyebrow pencils for creating the line work and webs across the face. Get one black one and one colored one (we went with red to match the gems we chose). 
• Makeup brushes (be sure to include a finer brush for the detailed areas).
• Colored powder eye shadow (we went with blue to contrast the red being used elsewhere).
• Colored Gems (can be purchased at your local craft store).
• White Cream base.

You Will Also Need:

1. A selection of large tropical silk leaves (These are from our local dollar store! SCORE.)
2. Green grosgrain ribbon (Again, dollar store. That place rules!)
3. Two small pieces of velcro
4. A hot glue gun

The Skirt and Headband

Our products provide the perfect base for this costume, but you'll need a tropical leaf skirt and flowery headband to bring the look together!

The Skirt:

1. Cut a length of green ribbon that is the same circumference as your hips.
2. Place a small piece of velcro at both ends of the ribbon, to serve as the closure.
3. Use a hot glue gun to adhere your tropical leaves to the ribbon. Don't let any ribbon show through - overlap the leaves to make sure.
4. Cut the strings off of our Hawaiian accesory kit, and glue individual flowers to the skirt until you're satisfied with the amount.

Remember that in the video Katy assembled these items herself from the jungle, so no worries if the leaves and flowers are askew!

The Headband:

The headband is achieved in the same manner as the skirt. Just hot glue a few leaves to a plain black headband, and then glue on the individual flowers until the fullness you desire is achieved!

Assembling the Spear:

1. Hot glue leaves around the plastic spear, until nothing but the spear tip is visible.

3. Tie the bottoms of your "Jane of the Jungle" costume around the spear.
4. Cover the top of the spear in a few more leaves, and top the whole thing off with some raffia at random.
