Star Wars Lightsabers Infographic Header

The incredible technology dreamed up by George Lucas when he created the Star Wars universe has been imagination food for generations of fans since. None more so than the lightsaber, wielded by those samurai-like mystics the Jedi and their evil counterparts, the Sith. Since Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader had their duel aboard the Death Star, followers have yearned for more of this iconic weapon from the Star Wars franchise.

December 2015 will see the release of Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, and with it the return of these awe-inspiring weapons. Kylo Ren, one of the major villains from the new film, wields the latest version of the lightsaber, which has been dubbed "The Cross-Guard Lightsaber" by fans. This imposing design boasts two miniature sabers that act as handguards, similar to a medieval sword. In celebration, and because we couldn't turn down lightsaber research, we've put together a beautiful infographic charting some of the most important, most unique, and most recognizable lightsabers from the Star Wars Universe.

A Tribute to Wes Craven: 6 of our Favorite Films

Wes Craven Tribute

You’d be hard pressed to find a stronger director/writer one-two punch in horror cinema than what Wes Craven accomplished with The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes. They are quintessential 70s horror—relentless, disturbing, and violent. There were a lot of movies like that in the 70s, but Craven was one of the few to do exploitation-horror well. In a genre which very rarely births a director that becomes a household name, Craven defied all odds amidst the turbulent Hollywood studio system.

More than defy the odds, he exceeded all expectations, and even thrived through the 90s, where his Scream trilogy rejuvenated and flipped on its head the then-dead slasher genre. We are clearly big fans of horror here at Halloweencostumes.com and Craven’s work has inspired and frightened us for years. His death on Sunday at the young age of 76 shocked us all. We would be remiss to not do our small part to remember just a sliver of his genius body of work. Below we have compiled a list of six of our favorite Wes Craven films. Not an easy task.

1. The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)

Serpent and Rainbow

An often overlooked “zombie” film, The Serpent and the Rainbow is less Night of the Living Dead (1968), and more White Zombie (1932), focusing on Voodoo, witch doctors, and pseudo-science, as opposed to mysterious, cannibal corpses. It features a great early performance by Bill Pullman and some creepy set pieces filmed in Santo Domingo and Haiti, where Voodoo practice is very real.

2. The People Under the Stairs (1991)

People Under the Stairs

A morality tale about greed disguised as a horror film, The People Under the Stairs continued Craven’s motifs of cannibals and degenerative inbreeding—with eerie results. After sneaking into the Robeson house, “Fool” and his gang find pale, animal-like children hidden beneath the stairway. Few kids (and more than a few adults) who were allowed to watch this film upon its release in 1991 were ever able to look at a simple staircase the same away again.

3. The Last House on the Left (1972)

Last House

Arriving six years before the similar horror-revenge film, I Spit on Your Grave, The Last House on the Left shocked audiences but nonetheless became a huge box office success and kick-start to Craven’s Blockbuster career. A truly nightmarish tale of every parent’s worst fears, Last House details with the kidnapping and murder of two teenage girls by a group of deranged escaped convicts. What the convicts did not plan was for was targeting and staying overnight at the home of one of the girls they had just killed. The two parents are then forced to become something truly terrifying in their quest for revenge.

4. The Hills Have Eyes (1977)

Hills Have Eyes

Road trips were never quite the same after the release of The Hills Have Eyes. All those once-idyllic small towns and communities across the United States were suddenly foreboding, hinting at inescapable evil lurking just beneath the surface. Like most of Craven’s horror, no one gets out of the hills unscathed, emotionally or physically.

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Nightmare on Elm Street

At the time of its release, and even largely to this day, there are few films that look and feel anything like A Nightmare on Elm Street. The central question of the film - what if our mortal bodies could be killed through our dreams? - literally became the stuff of nightmares for an entire generation. As if children being killed in their dreams wasn' t bad enough, the killer is a maniacal, burn-scarred ghost of a deceased serial killer who wears a deadly clawed glove.

6. Scream (1996)

Scream

In 1996, the slasher genre was, for lack of a better word, dead. The 80s had beaten that horse into the ground and few studio executives saw any potential for new stories or interesting ideas in the genre. Then along came Craven, who was there for the genre’s birth in the 70s, to start a new slasher renaissance with 1996’s Scream. A tongue-in-cheek take on the genre, Craven played with all the familiar tropes of the slasher film while winking at, and with, the audience. Besides rejuvenating the genre as a whole, Scream was also a huge hit with women, which is no surprise, since fierce and powerful women have been a staple of horror since its inception.

Far be it for us to mention product at the time of one’s passing, but we feel quite comfortable that Craven himself would find a certain joy in his death bringing new fans, and even more Freddies to the suburban streets this Halloween. Dress up in a deluxe Freddy costume, mask, or the iconic Ghost Face costume from Scream, and Craven’s memory will never fade.

12 Women in Comics Who Kick Butt

Women in Comics

There have been several strong female characters in comic books for more than 50 years, but they just haven't gotten the same love as their male counterparts. The fact that Wonder Woman debuted in Comics in 1941 and won't have her own feature film in theaters until 2018 is downright ridiculous. She will, however, be making her big screen debut in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and this has been generating some hype around women superheroes and women characters from comics in general. With all the buzz surrounding Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn appearing in upcoming films, here's a look at 12 awesome women from comics and what they've been up to in film.

1. Wonder Woman

Women in Comics Wonder Woman

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

Wonder Woman, aka Princess Diana of Themyscira, is the first lady of women in comics. She's not only one of the most powerful female superheroes, she's one of the most powerful of all superheroes! Armed with God-like power and weapons including the lasso of truth and bracelets of submission, among others, Wonder Woman is a pure force! Although she's had several origins during her 74 years of existence, Wonder Woman was originally a member of an Amazon tribe who comes to America and commonly fights against Nazi forces. Other origin stories draw stronger ties to her powers coming from the Gods. Wherever she came from, many are excited for her to show up in next year's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

2. Harley Quinn

Women in Comics Harley Quinn

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

If Wonder Woman is the first lady of superheroes, Harley Quinn is the Queen of madness on the dark side. Prior to going crazy, she was Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist at Arkam Asylum until she fell for one of her patients, The Joker (heard of him?), and became his accomplice/girlfriend. She initially helps the Joker escape from the asylum, but when he returns after being badly beaten by Batman, she gets pushed over the edge. Harley is a skilled gymnast, trained psychiatrist, and is typically armed with her signature mallet or baseball bat. She's most commonly dressed in some variation of a black and red jester costume, but Harley has quite a different look for when she makes her debut on the big screen next summer in Suicide Squad - more details here!

3. Poison Ivy

Women in Comics Poison Ivy

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

Poison Ivy might be one of Batman’s most powerful and deadly foes. She actually killed Batman once with a poisonous kiss (only to bring him back to life with a second kiss which provided the antidote). Poison Ivy’s real name is Pamela Lillian Isley. She’s a botanist who survives a murder attempt in which she was exposed to poisonous herbs from an ancient Egyptian artifact. Following the incident, she discovers her immunity to all natural toxins and diseases. It’s also commonly known that Poison Ivy is able to control plant life. She’s had many looks over the years, but one thing has been pretty consistent: Poison Ivy wears green. While she has made an appearance on the big screen before, there are currently no plans in place to see her again in the foreseeable future.

4. Catwoman

Women in Comics Catwoman

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

If the Joker and Harley Quinn are the ultimate love-hate relationship, Batman and Catwoman are not too far behind. Another Batman adversary of the caped crusader, Catwoman has been prowling the streets of Gotham City since 1940 when she first appeared in Batman #1. Early on she was known as the Cat, an expert burglar who consistently eluded the dark knight. It’s later revealed in her original storyline that she’s a former flight attendant suffering from amnesia who turned to crime after surviving a plane crash. What makes Catwoman unique is that she doesn’t possess any powers. She’s just a really good thief who uses all sorts of gadgets and fighting abilities, kind of like Batman (minus the thieving, of course). With exception of members of the x-men, she’s probably been portrayed in movies more than any other woman in comics. She was most prominently portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992's Batman Returns and by Halle Barry in the forgettable 2004 movie, Catwoman.

5. Black Widow

Women in Comics Black Widow

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

Anybody who’s seen Black Widow in any of Marvel’s movies (namely The Avengers movies and Captain America: The Winter Soldier) knows how much she kicks butt. However, some of you may not know that the Russian spy was once an antagonist to Tony Stark (Iron Man) before jumping ship and joining up with the Avengers. After several failed attempts at infiltrating Stark Industries, she fled her country, teamed up with Hawkeye, and came to America, where she would eventually be part of S.H.I.E.L.D and the Avengers. Scarlett Johanson plays Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has appeared in Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. She will appear in Captain America: Civil War next year.

6. Jean Grey

Women in Comics Jean Grey

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

Jean Grey is the original X-men’s sole female member and also one of the most powerful mutants of the comic book world. She’s most commonly referred to as Jean Grey, but she debuted as Marvel Girl with the X-men and possess powers of telepathy and telekinesis. Her most famous storyline comes from the mid-to-late 70's when she acquired god-like powers after being exposed to radiation while trying to save her fellow mutants. Under her new codename, The Phoenix, Grey is driven mad by her powers and eventually commits suicide to protect the X-men and the world from her. Jean Grey had been played by Famke Janssen in previous X-men films, but Sophie Turner will be taking over the role in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse

7. Thor

Women in Comics Thor

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

No, you didn’t misread that. Thor is, in fact, female in the comics now. Deal with it. Thor is widely recognized as the God of Thunder. He gets his powers from his magic hammer, Mjolnir, on which it is inscribed, “Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” After becoming unworthy and losing the ability to wield Mjolnir, Thor relinquishes his power to the mysterious woman who is able to pick it up. He even gave up his name to the woman, who is later revealed to be former love interest Jane Foster, and now goes by Odinson. The female Thor comic launched in 2014 and as of right now, there are no knowns plans for Marvel to have Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster take over for Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the cinematic universe.

8. Storm

Women in Comics Storm

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

With the powers of flight and the ability to control the weather, Storm can cause some serious damage. Most commonly known as a member of the X-men, Storm made her comic debut with the team in 1975 sporting her original black costume with cape, and signature white hair. Her real name is Ororo Munroe. She was orphaned at a young age and grew up a thief living on the streets of Cairo, Egypt. One of the men she pick-pocketed happened to be Professor Charles Xavier, who later would recruit her into the X-Men. Since the first X-Men movie in 2000, storm has been portrayed on-screen by Halle Berry, but will be replaced by Alexandra Shipp as part of the “rebooted” younger cast in X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016.

9. Carol Danvers

Women in Comics Captain Marvel

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

Carol Danvers is a woman with many powers and many names. She debuted as the first incarnation of Ms. Marvel, but has also been known as Binary, Warbird, and Captain Marvel. Danvers was the head of security for NASA when she was involved in an incident with alien technology that ultimately resulted in her gaining her superhuman powers. Before working with and joining the Avengers, Ms. Marvel had teamed up with Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the Defenders. A Captain Marvel movie featuring Carol Danvers has been confirmed for 2018, but there hasn't been anyone cast for the role yet.

10. Scarlet Witch

Women in Comics Scarlet Witch

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) ICenterIRight (First Feature Comic)]

Scarlet Witch, or Wanda Maximoff, was abducted along with her brother and experimented on as a baby. She is the daughter of X-men supervillain Magneto, who recruits her into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. The main component to Scarlet Witch's powers involve mind control. She’s able to get into people’s minds (figuratively) and alter reality to make people hallucinate. Another baddie turned goodie on this list, Scarlet Witch first appeared as a villain in early X-men comics before joining the Avengers. Scarlet Witch was played by Elizabeth Olsen in Avengers: Age of Ultron this year and is set to return in Captain America: Civil War in 2016.

11. Elektra

Women in Comics Elektra

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

Some of the women on this list are skilled fighters, but Elektra Natchios is a trained assassin. She grew up training in martial arts, and after her father was killed, went on to train with the organizations Chaste and The Hand. While working as a bounty for hire in New York, she crosses paths with former love interest Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil. The two then team up to take down organized crime in the city. On the big screen, Jennifer Garner first wore the red costume as Elektra in the 2003 film, Daredevil, starring Ben Affleck. In 2005, a movie featuring Elektra was released and remains one of the worst-reviewed superhero movies of all time. There are currently no plans to bring her back in films, but Elodie Yung has been cast for the role in Season Two of the popular Netflix series, Daredevil.

12. Rogue

Women in Comics Rogue

[Source: Left (First Comics Appearance) | Center | Right (First Feature Comic)]

Rogue is most commonly known for her role in the X-men. She is a mutant born with the powers to absorb others' powers, skills, and memories, just by touching them. Feeling that her powers are a curse to her, she ran away from home at a young age. She was then adopted by evil mutant Mystique and grew up as a villain. After so long, Rogue began to fear for herself and worried she was getting lost among all the memories from others she had absorbed. She then went to Professor Charles Xavier, who invited her into his school for gifted youngsters. There, she joined up with the X-men despite having fought with them before. Anna Paquin starred as Rogue in the first three X-men films from 2000-2006 before reprising the role in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Although most of her scenes were cut from the film, a director's cut (known as The Rogue Cut) was released in July 2015.

Who are some of  your favorite women from comics? Who are you excited to see on the big screen? Are there any female characters you think should show up in the movies sooner rather than later? We're partial to the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, but not so sure the general public is ready for her yet. If you're a fan of their looks, and might want to channel one of these powerful women this Halloween, be sure to check out our selection of female superhero costumes!

Force Friday Header

With Star Wars: The Force Awakens still 104 days away, fans can rejoice in the next best thing to opening day - Force Friday! Today is the officially recognized Disney/Lucasfilm merchandise release date for everything from action figures to Legos to costumes. As your trusted Halloween costume online retailer, we’ve got the latest news, pictures, and, of course, masks/costumes/accessories from The Force Awakens. This pre-release focus is on many of the new characters to the film franchise, such as the heroes Finn and Rey, and big bads Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, and the ever-present (but rebranded) Stormtroopers. Take a look at the brand new costumes for children and adults below.

The original Star Wars trilogy had Darth Vader. The prequel trilogy had…Count Dooku? Darth Sidious? We honestly don’t even know. We don’t like to think too hard about the prequel trilogy. Anyways, the big bad this time around looks to be Kylo Ren, a mysterious, black and silver masked villain with an odd-shaped lightsaber. It’s that unique, crossguard lightsaber that first introduced us to Ren, when the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser clip showed him stalking through dark woods and igniting his blade.

If the popularity of bad guys like Darth Vader and Darth Maul is any indication, Kylo Ren will similarly be a character that fans young and old love to hate. We anticipate this will be our hottest selling Star Wars costume of the season, so we’ve stocked up on deluxe and classic costume sets for adults and children, as well as separate accessories such as gloves, half and full helmets and, of course, that infamous lightsaber.

Finn Costumes

Finn Costume Collage.jpg

Here's what we know about Finn: He was once a member of an elite First Order Stormtrooper unit. Something bad happened, and he fled. Now the First Order is after him and he has to earn the trust of some new friends. Finn’s attire harkens back to the classic worn-in yet modern look of the original trilogy costume design. His beige bomber jacket with black pants is functional and stylish, with space to hold a blaster or, as the latest teaser post has suggested, a lightsaber. While not as distinctive as some of the other Force Awakens costumes, we expect many fans will want to pose as the newest hero of the Star Wars franchise this Halloween season and beyond. We have both adult and child deluxe costumes available, as well as Finn’s distinct blaster accessory sold separately.

Rey Costumes

Rey Costume Collage.jpg

A loner and scavenger on the planet Jakku, Rey is a strong and independent hero and a welcome female lead to the Star Wars cinematic universe. The wind and sand-swept planet of Jakku is home to pirates and cutthroats who prowl the desert landscape for scrap to sell. It’s no wonder that Rey sports Persian-inspired garb, complete with headdress and custom goggles to keep the sun and sand out of her face. Mobile and practical, this costume features a unique wrap design that is instantly recognizable.

Fans have been clamoring for more female representation in the Star Wars universe ever since Princess Leia appeared to be one of three women in the entire original trilogy. Disney and Lucasfilm have listened and poised Rey as torch-bearer for the new franchise—a strong and encouraging move. With that in mind, we expect Rey’s costume to be a big seller this season, with female Star Wars fans anxious to represent a hero in that actually looks like them. We’ve got deluxe and classic costumes for children and adults, as well as Rey’s distinct eye mask with hood and staff weapon available to purchase separately.

What would Star Wars be without the Stormtrooper? One of the first characters to appear on screen in the original film, the Stormtrooper is, arguably even more than Darth Vader, the mascot of the entire franchise. The Force Awakens takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi, so the latest version of the Stormtrooper has gone through a bit of rebranding, both in design and name. Now titled First Order Stormtroopers (to set them apart from the original trilogy troopers), their look is slightly streamlined, with a modified chest piece, helmet, and visor shape.

The Flametrooper is an entirely new creation, but not a completely alien design. The Flametrooper features a revised helmet to filter smoke and protect them from the heat of their massive flamethrowers. They also carry two large canisters on their backs to disperse the incendiary element. Everyone loves a Star Wars trooper, whether they be Storm, Clone, or Snow, so we are sure these revamped versions of old favorites will be a big hit this Halloween season. We’ve got deluxe and classic versions of both troopers for adults and children, as well as gloves and helmets.

The elite commander of the First Order troopers, Captain Phasma strikes an intimidating pose. Clad in a reflective, chrome version of the First Order Stormtrooper armor, Phasma carries a unique blaster and features a distinctive black and red cape. Inside that armor is actress Gwendoline Christie (known to many as Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones), adding another intriguing element to the character. Boys and girls alike will be lining up to don this fearsome and beautiful costume. Choose from adult and child deluxe and classic costumes, as well as gloves, helmet, and blaster accessories sold separately.

There is no question that The Force Awakens is going to be the biggest film of the holiday season. The hype has reached fever pitch and we still have three months to go! Show your ultimate and undying love for all things Star Wars when you snag one of these brand new Star Wars costumes before the Jawas and Jakku scavengers do.

The evolution of mario - an infographic

Mario has a lot to brag about - appearing in more than 200 video games, being the titular character of the bestselling video game franchise of all time, not to mention sporting a killer moustache "before it was cool." The latest feather in Mario's cap will be the release of his newest game, Super Mario Maker, which is set to be released this Friday, September 11! But was Mario always the king of the gaming scene? Was there a time he didn't wear that signature red cap? What was with that one time he was a Doctor - does he even have a license to practice medicine?

We could take a stab at answering these questions ourselves, but why, when Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto himself has been so forthcoming with information! In his own words, with our own illustrations, here is the story behind your favorite princess-rescuing plumber.

Even though 'technological limitations' was originally what dictated Mario's exaggerated features like his big old shnoz, can you imagine it any other way? Everything about Mario from head to toe has become iconic over his thirty plus year history, but it sure was interesting to read how his famous features became...well...famous, wasn't it?

If you can't get enough Mario Mania, and are planning to be one of the first to get your hands on Super Mario Maker this Friday, we have hundreds of Super Mario Bros costumes and accessories to help satisfy your need this Halloween! You could add a tool belt and hard hat, and go as Super Mario Maker Mario! Or you could dive even deeper into geekery and go as "Skinny Mario!" One of the best parts of Halloween is transforming yourself into one of your favorite characters for the night, and, usuallyyyy, these favorite characters are ones that you grew up watching on TV or in the movies. Nostalgia is always a huge hit on October 31st and wanting to pay homage *ahem* play dress-up *ahem* to the greats of your youth is something we can all relate to. Here are 8 different genres of nostalgic Halloween costumes that will hopefully give you inspiration on what to dress up as this fall!

The 80s was a great decade for many things: clothes, music, hair, and, most importantly, Saturday morning cartoons. Just remembering sliding out of bed, pouring a huge bowl of Count Chocula, and flipping on the TV brings a smile to our faces. There are so many options for Halloween costumes, too. Seriously, how many Care Bears were there? Like, a hundred? Like we said, plenty to choose from! Pick a single TV show and go as a group. Rainbow Brite and her pals would be a super cute idea, and the theme would be perfect for Pride events, too!

Scooby-Doo, where are you?! This famous pup has been around so long that he hits the nostalgic buttons for people of all ages, from kids today all the way through to people our parents' age. Everyone will know who you are if you dress in one of the easily-recognizable members of Mystery Inc. Bonus idea: if you have too big of a group and have to come up with more ideas, someone should totally dress as Scrappy-Doo OR Scooby's lesser known cousins Scooby-Dum and Scooby-Dee.

Fans of these characters from the golden years of television either are nostalgic for the days that they originally aired on TV or just for the days that the reruns played on Nick at Nite. The cast of The Addam's Family would be theeee perfectly spooky (slash creepy slash kooky) get-up for Halloween, but have you ever considered Gilligan's Island? There are so many fun characters!

Adult Bam Bam Costume – Shop      Wilma Flintstone Costume – Shop

If you grew up around a television, there's about a 100% chance that you've watched at least one episode of The Flintstones. No? Not even the movie remake from 1994 with John Goodman and Rosie O'Donnell?! Ok, totally JK on the movie thing. But, you have to admit that the idea of a Flintstones group Halloween costume is pretty cute. Mom and dad can be Wilma and Fred, the kids can be Pebbles and Bam Bam, and little Rex can be Dino. It's just that easy, folks.

AAAHH!!! Real Monsters Krumm Costume – Shop       Rocko’s Modern Life Hefer Kigurumi – Shop

Wearing a kigurumi for Halloween is pretty much the best idea. Here's why. One: It's comfortable. Two: Big enough to hide candy. Three: When you're tired of partying, you're dressesd for bed already. Four: These are themed after some of the best cartoons to hit the SNICK lineup on Nickelodeon in the 90s. Remember CatDog? The head was a cat and the tail was a dog! Or was it ... the head was a dog and the tail was a cat? Uhhh. Either way, the theme song was phenomenal.

6. Karate Kid Halloween Costumes

Nostalgic Halloween Costumes Karate Kid

Cobra Kai Costume – Shop      Karate Kid Daniel San Costume – Shop

There’s no nostalgic Halloween costume like the Karate Kid. Wax on, paint the fence, and Crane Stance! Admit it, we totally know you played Karate Kid with your older brother or maybe the neighbors when you were 10. And that wicked bruise on your ankle was from Sweep the Leg, not crashing the bike like you told your parents.

7. Classic Saturday Night Live Halloween Costumes

Nostalgic Halloween Costumes Saturday Night Live

Lunch Lady Costume – Shop      SNL Garth Algar Wig – Shop      Wayne’s World Wig – Shop

Hanz and Franz Costume – Shop      Conehead Egg Cap – Shop      Sexy Stripper Costume – Shop

In our opinion, the 80s and 90s were the best years of SNL. Sure, more recent characters like Stefon the club kid or Dooneese the baby-handed singer are pretty stellar, buuuuut how do you compete with heavy-hitters like Wayne's World or Lunch Lady Land? Also, the nostalgia for old Saturday Night Live bits is alive and well on today's TV - have you seen the State Farm commercials lately? Coneheads are back! They're still funny, too, by the way.

8. Looney Tunes Halloween Costumes

Nostalgic Halloween Costumes Looney Tunes

Infant Taz Costume – Shop      Marvin the Martian Costume – Shop

Sylvester Costume – Shop      Bugs Bunny Costume – Shop       Infant Daffy Duck Costume – Shop

As with the Flintstones, Looney Tunes was a cartoon you usually found yourself watching at some point as a child, whether you chose to or not. It just always seemed to be on. As infuriating as that wascally wabbit could be, these characters make for some classic Halloween costumes. That little Taz is just too cute, too.

We hope this list helped you decide which nostalgic Halloween costume idea to go with this year. What do you think you and your friends will dress up as this Halloween? Let us know in the comments! Feel free to browse our adult costumes for more inspiration.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Paper Dolls

"I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there, to sit on my throne, as the Prince of my desk chair." If you've been perusing the internet from your cubicle at all today, you've probably heard some news that will make you feel a little old: today marks the 25th anniversary of the first episode of treasured American sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air! Yes it has been TWENTY-FIVE years since you coveted Hilary's wardrobe, practiced doing "The Carlton" in front of your mirror, snickered at Uncle Phil's sassy comebacks, and rapped along with Jazzy Jeff's catchy opening theme song. To celebrate, we created printable paper dolls modeled after 6 of the show's most famous and fashion-forward characters. Why? Why not! Without further ado, we'd like to take a moment, just sit right there, we'll tell you how we made these prints of the Banks from Bel-Air.

1. Will Smith Paper Doll

You can't pull off a nickname like "The Fresh Prince" or play yourself on TV for six successful seasons if you're not a cool guy, which Will Smith inarguably is. This sitcom catapulted Smith to superstardom, and there's even a rumor that he will be rebooting the series next year! We'd like to chill out max and play it cool, but that's a prettttty exciting prospect. We loaded this paper doll with funky fresh fashions and accessories, including a few of Will's signature upturned ball caps.

2. Carlton Banks Paper Doll

Alfonso Ribeiro has done pretty well for himself since his Fresh Prince days - he even showcased his rythmic prowess on a recent season of Dancing With The Stars! Wherever he goes with his career, though, it seems he'll forever be MOST known for the spirited dance move he debuted on The Fresh Prince, "The Carlton." Remember when he lead a flash mob of the dance, on the streets of L.A.?? We do. Besides doing "The Carlton," this televeision character will go down in history for his uber-preppy wardrobe. That's why we filled his paper doll sheet with smart khakis, classic plaids, bow ties, and cardigans.

3. Uncle Phil Paper Doll

Philip Banks, aka "Uncle Phil," has been voted one of the best TV dads of all time, and who are we to disagree? As a professional judge, he ruled his Bel-Air household with dignity and authority - he literally knew how to lay down the law. BUT, we learned over six wonderful seasons that he was a big softie at heart! His character was the king of sassy, endearing comebacks, smart dad fashions (see his paper doll ensemble above), and, let us not forget, tossing Jazzy Jeff out of the house as many times as humanly possible.

4. Hilary Banks Paper Doll

Hilary Banks Paper Doll

If Uncle Phil is one of the best sitcom dads, then Hilary Banks is like TOTALLY for sure one of pop culture's best valley girls everrrr. Her bouncy curls, over-the-top sass, and trendy, expensive, fantastic wardrobe, were mesmerizing! It's no wonder she got hired on as "Hilary Banks: The Real Weather Girl" at her local television station (recognize that outfit above?). One of our favorite recurring themes of Karyn Parsons' character was whenever she burst in the door with new hats, purses, and shopping bags from her latest spree, so we made sure to include some of each in her paper doll printable.

5. Ashley Banks Paper Doll

Ashley Banks Paper Doll

Ashley Banks, essentially America's little sister, was such a fun and sweet character on the show. Like all little sisters, though, she grew up over the years. It was very entertaining watching her wardrobe transition from sweet and demure to THAT STRIPED CROP TOP seen 'round the world! Sorry Uncle Phil - she had to become her own woman at some point. Will's energetic young shadow, Ashley's outfits were always full of fun, playful patterns, and bright colors, so we infused her paper doll's printable fashions with both.

6. Geoffrey Butler Paper Doll

Fresh Prince Geoffrey Butler Paper Doll

There's probably not a television character in history that can crack jokes and crack eggs quite as well as Geoffrey. He was so cynical, so sarcastic, and did you know, so professionally accomplished? He is an Oxford University graduate, former Olympic runner, and even spent a time as Chuck Norris' sparring partner. The Banks certainly had a gem in Geoffrey! For this formally mannered fellow, we included formal paper outfits including his signature suits, gloves, and aprons.

There you have it! 6 printable paper dolls sure to trigger a sense of nostalgia for anyone who has ever yelled, "yo home, smell ya later" to a cab driver. (We don't recommend doing that, btw.) Which "doll" is your favorite? Which character from the show was your favorite? Do you actually plan on printing these out and recreating a favorite episode at your desk? Let us know in the comments below! And if the nostalgia bug has bitten you, you can shop our selection of TV and movie costumes HERE. Lastly, if you enjoyed these printables, feel share them - with friends, coworkers, and of course, "your auntie and uncle!" Ba dum chhhh.

Better brush up on your eye rolls and quick comebacks, or you might find yourself back on your heels in no time. If you have the chops for it, this hit TV show affords plenty of quotes for your Halloween party.
Ant man costume for 2015
Ant Man & Yellow Jacket
Who else thought Ant-Man was a BIG surprise in 2015? Sure, this comic book character goes way back, but if you don’t have a comic book collection occupying most of your garage in dusty old boxes, you just might have forgotten this character. With an Ant-Man costume, you have options, right? Pair it with Yellow Jacket or even “Honey I shrunk the kids” and you have a conversation starter on your hands!
Archer costume for 2015
Archer
Do you speak in convoluted colloquialism and treat your butler terribly? Or do you call out your friends' names in increasing volume until they yell “WHAT?!” in a blind rage? If so, an Archer costume might be right for your 2015 Halloween escapades. Whether you’re thinking Archer Vice or the original series that kicked it all off, this show affords solo, couples, and group costumes that are sure to get noticed.
Arrow costume for 2015
Arrow
In the last few years and in 2015 especially, CW superhero shows like Arrow and The Flash have redefined the way we look at TV comic book shows. Impress your friends in your Green Arrow costume with the dark and mysterious qualities that make this character so alluring in 2015. Just do everyone a favor and remember that you aren’t a master marksmen just because you donned the costume. Keep those arrows holstered where they belong!
Attack on Titan costume for 2015
Attack on Titan
Attack on Titan took the anime and manga communities by storm in the last few years and only looks to be gaining steam. Between the mysteries surrounding the nature and origins of Titans, why they have an insatiable appetite for human flesh, and other BIG questions all amount to one titanic mystery that keeps on giving. If any year was the year for an Attack on Titan costume, 2015 would certainly be it!
Back to the Future costume for 2015
Back to the Future
With “Future Day” finally taking place October 21, 2015, this year is definitely the year of Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and the classic poses from Back to the Future. Who didn’t watch that movie and say, “I wonder where I’ll be in 2015?” Well, the answer to that question is finally at hand, and there is no doubt that 2015 is the year of Back to the Future costumes and BTTF light up shoes.
Batman vs. Superman costume for 2015
Batman vs. Superman
While this might be taking things a bit too literally for some, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is a definite point of 2015 costume inspiration. The world can never really get enough of Batman, and the idea of the Dark Knight going fist to fist with the Man of Steel is tough to resist for anyone. Get ahead of the crowd in 2015 with 2016’s most anticipated movie in a Batman v. Superman inspired costume.
Bee keeper costume for 2015
Bee Keeper
Without getting all preachy, Halloween costumes can be a time to commentate on politics and this one is definitely front of mind for environmentalists and entomologists in 2015. The issue of hive collapse is certainly not a new one. But it is one political commentary costume that isn’t going away as long as bee populations continue to dwindle. As they say, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar, so have fun raising awareness if that’s your thing!
Bojack Horseman costume for 2015
Bojack Horseman
Do you sometimes fantasize about being a washed up 90s' sitcom dad? Well, of course not (at least, we hope that’s not your life's aspiration). Still, the Netflix runaway surprise Bojack Horseman gained steam in 2015 with the release of season two. And let’s be honest, the costumes are funny. Perhaps capitalizing on the success of the creepy horse mask, this series is fodder for funny costume lovers.
Daenerys costume for 2015
Daenerys
Game of Thrones is a staple in the Sci-Fi and geek community, and that is no different in 2015 than in other years. Between new revelations about White Walkers, the hubbub surrounding Jon Snow and season 5 marking the first time that book readers caught up to show watchers, the remainder of GOT is really up for speculation and debate. Bring this costume to the Halloween party and prepare to debate! (Or maybe just battle in a fake sword fight.)
Daredevil costume for 2015
Daredevil
Brooding, dark, and super violent, the Netflix runaway series Daredevil took comic book and superhero fans by surprise in 2015. Giving hope for future superhero reboots, there is something about Daredevil costumes that are hard to resist. For true Daredevil fans, Matt Murdock’s all black jumpsuit with the lidless mask just might be more popular than his street clothes or the actual costume (worn near the end of season one), but that contest won’t play out until Halloween!
Deadpool costume for 2015
Deadpool
While Deadpool is on the horizon for 2016 in a long anticipated live action flick, the cult following surrounding this beloved character in the cosplaying community is right up there with Harley Quinn. In any given year, you can expect to see hordes of Deadpool cosplayers at Comic-Con. And in 2015, we can expect a similar uptick in Deadpool enthusiasts sporting variants of the costumes for Halloween. Given his wild sense of humor, opportunities abound to accessorize with costumes-over-costumes.
Daredevil costume for 2015
Deadshot
Sometimes being trendy is all about getting ahead of the curve. With the coming release of Suicide Squad in 2016, whether you love Will Smith, Deadshot, or just really cool comic book costumes in general, a Deadshot costume is a great pick for Halloween. Between the Joker, Harley Quinn, and Deadshot , you have endless group and couples costume ideas to choose from. Not to mention, if you have a thick black beard, you can work it right into the look.
Donald Trump costume for 2015
Donald Trump
Regardless of where you side on 2016's presidential hopefuls, there is no doubt that 2015 is a year for a Donald Trump costume. Love him or hate him, people will “get” this costume without any need for clarification. Caution: If you open every conversation up with a toupee jokes, we’re sorry but, “You’re fired!” Yes indeed, 2015 is the year where Donald Trump is more than a bad hair day or Apprentice joke.
Dwight Schrute costume for 2015
Dwight Schrute
This is your Determined, Worker, Intense, Good Worker, Hard Worker, Terrific costume. It’s the kind of costume that tells people you are a good worker, a hard worker, and other things related to your work ethic. All jokes aside… Wait, no, that’s all backwards! The Dwight Schrute costume is all about the jokes. So you’d better brush up on your Office quotes this year and "bring it" at this year's Halloween party. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
Elaine costume for 2015
Elaine
Did the Dingo eat your bab-ay? Yep, us too. Halloween 2015 is like a dream come true for Seinfeld fans! With the release of every episode of the entire series on Hulu this year, this timeless comedy is back with a vengeance! So if you want to cut a rug this Halloween, there is no better getup than an Elaine Benes costume. Work on your awkward gyrations and two-handed thumbs up kicks and make a big impression on the dancefloor.
Flash costume for 2015
Flash
The Flash is one of those timeless characters that appeals to the kid in all of us. Doesn’t he, though? Who doesn’t want to run fast as lightning after an accident with a particle accelerator? Agreed! With the The Flash making a huge impact in 2015 on the CW, the life of Barry Allen took on new meaning and his costume became another staple in a year dominated by pop culture.
A creative costume for 2015
Half Man Half Woman
Maybe you are feeling a little torn in 2015? You like the idea of doing a gender bender costume, but just aren’t ready to fully commit. Well, the good news is, you don’t have to! A definite trend in 2015 is this idea of gender bending, and it isn't quite so literal. Try out a female Joker from Batman or a female Thor, or why not flip-flop a famous couple with your better half? No matter the look, it will be a win.
Invisible Woman costume for 2015
Invisible Woman
If you are a comic book or Marvel fan, the Fantastic Four probably have a permanent place in your heart. The characters are timeless and have had too many crossovers, movies, and comics to count. So, when Marvel announced yet another Fantastic Four reboot in 2015, it might have hit you that it's time to dust off the old Invisible Woman costume! Regardless of your motivation, any Fantastic Four costume will make a welcome addition to the party in 2015.
Joker Nurse costume for 2015
Joker Nurse
Are you “over” Heath Ledger as the Joker? Good, us neither! Yes indeed, even with Jared Leto’s newest portrayal of this timeless character making waves across the interwebs from the set of 2016’s Suicide Squad, you really can’t go wrong with a Heath Ledger Joker costume. Here’s another thought while we’re at it! Get together with a Jack Nicholson rendition, Heath Ledger homage, and Jared Leto Joker and you have one unique group costume on your hands.
Jurassic World costume for 2015
Jurassic World
Did you spend a lot of your summer coming up with ironic “Pratting” opportunities? For the late person, that is where you put up your hands in a “Whoa, easy, there!” kind of motion to emulate the raptor training scene from Jurassic World. We digress, we digress… No matter what motivates your Jurassic World costume this year, it’s a fact that dinosaur costumes will leave a big footprint on the 2015 Halloween scene.
Kangaroo and Joey costume for 2015
Kangaroo and Joey
Like any other year, parents are always looking for creative ways to work their little ones into a functional costume that is equal parts funny, cute, and useful. If you have to carry around your baby girl or boy in a sling for the night, why not do so creatively and in a way that will have other parents and friends awww-ing all night? Use ideas like this creative Kangaroo and Joey family costume for inspiration and you can’t go wrong!
Katy Perry costume for 2015
Katy Perry
You can’t really spell Halloween without Katy Perry. Well, you can, but that’s really not our point here! This lady has one wild wardrobe to the point where it just lends itself to costuming in irresistible ways. For true fans, it seems like every year a new reason to dress up like the pop icon crops up. And this year, it was the Super Bowl! Whether you want to couple up with a "Left Shark" companion or just own the show this Halloween, Katy Perry costumed are a go.
Left Shark costume for 2015
Left Shark
Between "Deflate Gate" and "Left Shark", it was a little hard to focus on football during this year’s Super Bowl. And sure, while this was way back in February, we still haven’t forgotten. Yes, if the internet’s spirit animal in 2014 was Grumpy Cat, then in 2015 it is undoubtedly Left Shark. This botched dance turned viral meme is exactly what costumers dream about for that topical idea that screams this year, and this year only!
Lisa Simpson costume for 2015
Lisa Simpson
Not every costume needs to be new to be “new” in 2015. Nostalgia is always in, and Halloween 2015 seems to be right on trends. Don’t shy away from the good old days! Think of the options. Think Quail Man, Goosebumps, Ahhh! Real Monsters, Rocko’s Modern Life and of course, the Simpsons. Maybe toss in some Hungry, Hungry Hippos, and the list goes on. Go ahead and take a walk down memory lane, it looks good on you!
Little Lumberjack costume for 2015
Little Lumberjack
We’re calling bluff on that kid’s penmanship. Still, super adorable baby costumes are always in! Dressing your kids up in hilarious costumes and taking pictures that one day could be used for wedding-day-black-mail is almost a parenting rite of passage. So let your adorable kids do what they do best and water up those eyes for a big bag of candy! Because they are still too young to know what trouble they're getting their teen selves into!
Mad Max costume for 2015
Mad Max
Fire up the war rig for Halloween in 2015! Mad Max: Fury Road made ripples from here to Valhalla this year and cosplayers couldn’t be happier. Talk about one costume-ready movie! Even we couldn’t keep our hands off the DIY opportunities that come with the territory. Either stick to the script as Max, Furiosa, or Immortan Joe, or color outside the lines and create something “inspired by” but uniquely post-apocalyptic.
Mad Men costume for 2015
Mad Men
On the heels part two of the final season of Mad Men, the time to get a big group together for a round of scotch and cheesy pitches is here. Going solo is admittedly tough in this style, but this Joann Holloway cosplayer definitely pulled it off! If you do get a group together, the hardest part will be arguing over who gets to be Donald Draper so you might need to have a battle of the wits to see who gets to wear the coveted Fedora. There can be only one!
Curious George costume for 2015
Man in Yellow Hat / Curious George
Like the Man with the Yellow Hat, what kid wouldn’t want to bring a monkey home to the big city? Ask any kid, go ahead! You already know the answer is “when does it get here?!” That’s the best part about buying costumes for kids. Books like Curious George, Where the Wild Things Are, and Harry Potter are always "in" depending on what the family is reading at the time.
Matt Murdock costume for 2015
Matt Murdock
Whether you binge watched Daredevil on Netflix or let it slow-burn week-by-week, the critically acclaimed series probably ate up a lot of leisure hours for comic book and superhero fans. If you are among the hordes of fans, you have to admit the costume options are tempting this year. Maybe the only thing stopping you is the possibility of running into four other Matt Murdocks or Daredevils at the party this year? The costume is just that popular in 2015!
Mayhem costume for 2015
Mayhem Guys
You know a good ad campaign when you see it. A round of applause to the marketers who can make a mascot out of car insurance! If you’ve happened to watch any TV at all in the past five or so years, you definitely know the Mayhem guy. In league with Flo from Progressive and the GEICO Gecko, it’s an unexpected costume that most people will “get” with a single look!
Milhouse costume for 2015
Milhouse
If you love The Simpsons, Millhouse is probably somewhere in your top ten favorite characters. Remember the Fall Out Boy episode or when his parents got divorced? Remember “Can I Borrow a Feeling?” from Kirk Van Houten and Homer’s reaction? You can’t untangle Millhouse from the magic of the Simpsons, and if you can get the voice down right, this is sure to be a good costume to hit the nostalgia-bone this Halloween.
Monarch costume for 2015
Monarch
Monarch butterflies are the mascot of summer for many, and efforts to help the endangered species bounce back in North America have been underway on social media and the internet for quite some time now. Whether people are planting Milk Weed in their gardens to help feed the little beauties or finding other ways to help the population continue to flourish, it’s a political or environmental conversation-starter in 2015 that’s hard to miss.
Mr. Fantastic costume for 2015
Mr. Fantastic
This cosplayer pulled out all the stops in his Mr. Fantastic costume. Perhaps the best part is, with a slight reskinning, he could easily reuse it as a Stretch Armstrong for round two! Whether you push it to the extremes or just take it easy with a Fantastic Four costume, any time there is a new Marvel movie release you can expect to see an uptick in superhero costumes like this!
Princess Leia costume for 2015
Princess Leia/R2D2
With Star Wars: The Force Awakens hitting theatres December 18, the old cast and characters suddenly become relevant again. But then again, Star Wars costumes are always relevant if we’re being honest. So to be safe, let’s just say the Force is stronger in 2015! And with it, we can all expect to see plenty of the classic characters frequenting our Halloween haunts this year. Whether you are thinking Kylo Ren or something from as early as A New Hope, you'll be on the money in 2015.
Jerry Seinfeld costume for 2015
Puffy Shirt Jerry
Did a low talker trick you into wearing the puffy shirt, too? Like we already said, Seinfeld is back in 2015 with the full series suddenly being available for cord-cutters on Hulu. The best part is the shelf life of this show! Even 25 years after the first episode aired, fans are still eagerly binge watching the comedy about “nothing” that kicked off an era and brand of comedy that lives on today.
Daredevil costume for 2015
Quail Man
If you are a 20-something, then Quail Man is a very creative, easily recognizable costume to pull off in 2015. Playing the nostalgia card is to be expected as we near the 20th and 25th anniversaries of hit Nickelodeon shows like Doug, Salute Your Shorts and Legends of the Hidden Temple. When’s the last time you dusted off some jokes from these Nickelodeon classics? Now might be the perfect time.
Ron Swanson costume for 2015
Ron Swanson
With the right costume, you just might make Ron Swanson's Pyramid of Greatness this year. Like a well-built chair, a perfectly cooked steak from Milligan’s Steakhouse, or an afternoon unbothered by “work proximity associates,” life is simpler if you spend Halloween 2015 as Ron Swanson. This cosplayer really pulled off the look in memorial of the final season of Parks & Rec and we vote "yes!" to Swanson in 2015.
Rufio costume for 2015
Rufio
You might pack some throat lozenges for about the 30th time someone asks you to “crow” in this Rufio costume. Sure, while Rufio might be old news, in a year dedicated to the fond memory of Robin Williams and the release of Pan on October 9th, creative throwbacks like this will definitely fit the bill in 2015. Just remember that in real life, happy thoughts won’t necessarily help you fly.
Sadness costume for 2015
Sadness
When Pixar and Walt Disney Pictures get to together to release a new animated flick like Inside Out, the whole world can’t help but notice. When that film happens to be a smash hit, you can expect the main characters to make the rounds at this year’s Halloween party. Whether you are dressing as Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, or Sadness like this costumer, you’ll be right on the money for a top costume in 2015.
Pretty Little Liars costume for 2015
Scary Mask from Pretty Little Liars
In its five years on ABC Family, Pretty Little Liars has grown its fan base through twists and turns that keep everyone guessing. Whether you want to relive the fight over the creepy doll from the Halloween special or go as a group of the characters from the show, the costume options are there for solo and group costumes this year. Maybe the hardest part will be deciding who gets to be whom!
She Thor costume for 2015
She Thor
Spoiler Alert! Late in 2014, a rebooted Thor hit comic book shelves to reveal a new Thunder God Goddess. That’s right! If you haven’t kept up on the twists and turns of the Marvel Universe, none other than Jane Foster picked up Mjölnir to wield the power of Thor. For female cosplayers in 2015, it has been a fun costume to sport at Comic-Con and other fan events and we can expect to see it on Halloween as well.
Sons of Anarchy costume for 2015
Sons of Anarchy
If you made it through all seven seasons of Sons of Anarchy, December of 2014 marked the end of an era. Following on the heels of the shocking series finale, SAMCRO lends itself to either solo, couple, or group costumes with ease. While “Jax” Teller is a go-to pretty much every year, Halloween 2015 is just about as good as it gets for SoA fans to wear the patch one last time.
Suicide Squad Harley Quinn costume for 2015
Suicide Squad Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn is one of the most cosplayed costumes you’ll see at Comic-Con, and in 2015, that is truer than ever. Once Margot Robbie donned the pigtails and the now famous “Daddy’s Lil Monster” shirt from the set of Suicide Squad, it was game over on fan forums and popular geek websites. Whether you love or hate the new look, people will be sporting it left and right on Halloween this year!
Suicide Squad Joker costume for 2015
Suicide Squad Joker
He’s not going to kill you. He’s just going to hurt you really, really bad. That is the chilling sentiment of Jared Leto’s Joker in the highly anticipated Suicide Squad. Set for theatres in 2016, the cosplay community is already working Harley Quinn, Dead Shot, and the Joker into the rotation and Halloween can expect similar treatment. No matter your feelings on what we know so far, people will be sporting this new Joker in 2015!
Thanos costume for 2015
Thanos
Marvel has done a great job building suspense around the coming plight of Thanos - the feared supervillain from outer space. With appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers: Age of Ultron post-credits, it’s clear that Thanos is on his way to wreak havoc for Earth’s heroes. Fans are already responding and dressing as the deformed alien. This should be a big costume in years to come as well!
Tina Belcher costume for 2015
Tina Belcher
With the Bob’s Burgers cult growing steadily in 2015, cosplayers continue finding creative ways to show their Belcher-pride. If you like butts and you cannot lie, something like this Jimmy Jr. and Tina combo might be in your future. With couples and group costume options to choose from, the more friends you can get together the better! Just be ready to talk over each other all night in increasingly raised voices.
True Detective costume for 2015
True Detective
While the HBO hit series True Detective rounds the bend on season two, fans have their pick of the litter in terms of costumes for 2015. If you left your heart in season one, a Rust Cohle costume with a Lone Star beer can is a great pick! Season two has also shown some promising costumes as well, like the creepy Black Eagle mask we glimpsed earlier in the season. For people who love drama, this is the costume for you!
Fresh Prince costume for 2015
Will and Carleton
As The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air celebrates its 25th anniversary in September 2015, this costume screams 90s nostalgia this year. Finding early 90s prints might be easier than you expect if you head over to your local thrift shop or check out our 90s selection. If your buddy goes as Carleton, he better have that dorky dance down pat or there is a good chance someone out there will show him up!
Zoolander costume for 2015
Zoolander
Another hilarious character is back in 2015 with the announcement of Zoolander 2 taking the world by surprise at Fashion Week. Slated to hit the theatres in February 2016, fans will be eager to dust off this hilarious costume for Halloween this year. Only one man can pull of Blue Steel, and this is a fact, but this cosplayer came pretty close and we applaud the effort with dainty, soundless claps.

It's hard to imagine a world without the Muppets. Quite frankly, you shouldn't try to imagine it. Without Jim Henson's lovable characters, everyone would probably be living in some awful dystopian world where cell phones are used for making phone calls instead of using them to watch funny Kermit videos. Instead, let's take a look at the Muppets through the years and how each of them began their lucrative careers as a puppet entertainer. From Kermit to Walter, this infographic outlines all the star Muppets' debuts.

Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland is a story that never loses its charm, and when it comes to group costumes for 2015, like every other year it has a place! Take a trip through the looking glass with the whole family and choose from a huge spectrum of costume-friendly characters. Year after year, movie after movie, and play after play, an Alice in Wonderland group costume will crop up time and again.
Archer Group Costume
Archer
You have to laugh just looking at this Archer group costume! Getting an entire group to really commit like this is what it's all about if you are looking for a unique group costume. While there are the tried and true staples each Halloween, new shows like Archer and other Adult Swim, Netflix, or HBO originals should give you topical ideas for your group in 2015.
Attack on Titan Group Costume
Attack on Titan
In 2015, Attack on Titan became bigger than ever, so we can definitely expect to see this group costume roaming the streets in hoards. Can you really blame them for wanting to go as a group to face the Titans? With Titan heights ranging from three to 60 meters tall, and an insatiable hunger for human flesh that's unmatched, it's better to tackle the Titan problem with as many soldiers as you can muster!
Avengers Group Costume
Avengers
The Avengers have been a go-to group costume for the last five years and, with Age of Ultron making a big splash in 2015, Avengers group costumes aren't going anywhere anytime soon. You have to hand it to groups who defy the characters with gender benders like Thor, Loki, and Hulk pictured here. Getting creative with a go-to costume like this is one way to stand out from the crowd.
Gender Bender Avengers Group Costume
Avengers Girls
Weren't we just singing the praises of Avengers gender benders on the last slide? Well, clearly we just can't get enough of it! With very distinct costumes and punchy color schemes, it is easy to take a character like Iron Man and make it entirely new! Just make sure you have the right collection of key components for immediate recognition, like the hand and chest lights in this Avengers group costume.
Attack on Titan Group Costume
Batman Pirates
Another way to get creative with a group costume in 2015 is to take gender bending a step further by adding in another layer altogether. For example: this group took familiar Batman characters and turned them into pirates! Points for creativity in 2015 for anyone who can twist a familiar character lineup and make it 100% unique. No concerns of running into your doppelganger group in this getup!
Bob's Burgers Group Costume
Bob's Burgers
That Tina Belcher has even got the dance moves down! Now we're talking... Yep, Bob's Burgers is one of those shows with a cult following of some seriously dedicated cosplayers, and this group really took the cake burger. With a cast of loud, obnoxious. and hilarious characters, you know you'll have a great night. And, if you go out on the town with a Bob's Burgers group costume, please just promise you will hit the dancefloor.
Cereal Mascots Group Costume
Cereal Mascots
Most kids spent some quality time with these characters every morning. That is, if you were lucky enough to get the "good stuff" at your breakfast table growing up! Category costumes like this that cross brands with a common thread are always really creative and unexpected. If you are going as a group in 2015, creativity is really going to be the deciding factor between good and grrrrrrrrrrrrr-eat!
Chewbacca's Angels Group Costume
Chewbacca's Angels
Now we have to admit, Chewbacca's angels border on the lines of theatrical and extremely advanced cosplaying. Something this intricate certainly is not for everyone and could easily win a prize at Comic Con! But if you consider yourself an expert at makeup, prosthetics, hair, and all around cosplay tomfoolery, you might try thinking way outside of the box for your group costume this year!
Circus Group Costume
Circus
The 10+ member group costume is a rare animal in any year. Coordinating a group this large can sometimes feel like herding cats, after all. But, this group seems to have pulled it off with flying colors and trapezes! You have to hand it to any group who can take something "old" like the circus and really make it new, with unexpected elements like the bearded "lady" and the sword swallower pictured here.
Emojis Group Costume
Emojis
In 2015, wearing your emotions on your sleeve, or your face for that matter, is to be expected. Between Inside Out and the first ever emoji-only book being accepted into the Library of Congress - search "Emoji Dick" if you don't believe us - speaking with symbols and emotions is in! With the dictionary of emojis growing exponentially, you can even break away from smileys and get into the weird stuff in 2015.
Fanta Girls' Group Costume
Fanta Girls
These Fanta Girls are taking the trend of crossdressing for Halloween a step further with an unexpected twist. Maybe you could call it a lemon-lime twist? Either way you look at it, these guys seem to be having a great time with a lighthearted take on a gender bender for the centuries. Caution: insensitivity is never in, so if you plan to cross dress for Halloween, please just do it respectfully!
Fantastic Four Group Costume
Fantastic Four
There are a couple of amazing things happening with this Fantastic Four group costume. First, the Thing is incredibly epic, and like the Fantastic Four movie in 2015, is entirely real (no CG!). Love it. Second, what a creative way to show the Invisible Woman's powers. And finally, killer crossover costume here with the second Invisible Woman in Hulk form. This group costume is full of win!
Fast Food Mascots Group Costume
Fast Food Icons
Apparently, mascots help sell food (and Halloween costumes, for that matter)! And now that we've got cereal costumes out of the way, the list just wouldn't be complete without the fast food mascot group costume pictured here. It also looks like these guys didn't take themselves too seriously, which adds another dimension of hilarity to the getup. Shout out to Wendy for a laugh!
Futurama Group Costume
Futurama
Brain Slug commands you to like this group costume. And, wow! They took this group costume a step further when they had Bender steal Fry's wallet in the picture. Did you catch that?! Half of the fun of posing as your favorite character for Halloween is capturing their unique personality, so bravo. If you don't want to go the DIY route, we also carry officially licensed Futurama costumes in plenty.
Game of Thrones Group Costume
Game of Thrones
No matter whom you hope ends up on the Iron Throne, the Starks have to be on your short list of people you feel for. You know this group commiserates with their plight. Now, the real question: did they summon up some magic from the Red Witch to get that misty glow on the trees? Seems like the perfect environment for a winning Game of Thrones group costume cosplay in 2015!
Guardians of the Galaxy Group Costume
Guardians of the Galaxy
We are Groot. Aren't we? Even a year after the release of Guardians of the Galaxy, these characters are quickly becoming classics. And with a ton of heroes and villains to choose from between Groot, Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Gamora, it's the ideal kind of getup for a large group in 2015. Stay tuned for the inevitable sequel bringing these costumes back into the forefront with a vengeance in 2017!
Hungry Hungry Hippos Group Costume
Hungry Hungry Hippos
If you had some spare time as a kid, which most of us certainly did, chances have it some of that time was occupied with Hungry Hungry Hippos. Now that's two "hungry"s, in case there was any doubt just how famished these hippos are! When it comes to nostalgic group costumes, this is definitely near the top of the list for now and really any time in the near future.
Hocus Pocus Group Costume
Hocus Pocus
If you are a 90s kid, then Hocus Pocus is pretty much synonymous with Halloween. The movie perfectly captured that feeling you get, or hope to get, every Halloween. Witches, zombies, ghosts, and talking cats - what's not to like? Even better is the Hocus Pocus witches group costume. It's a go to for anyone who wants to hit the nostalgia bone in a group of three. Check out our own DIY Hocus Pocus here!
Rick and Morty Group Costume
Rick and Morty
When Adult Swim comes around with a new cartoon that gets everyone cracking up in their PJs, the Halloween community takes notice. In 2015, Rick and Morty was definitely on that list. Delving into super serious issues like time travel and alternate universes, this show still leaves plenty of room for midsentence belches. Yes indeed, there is certainly a spot for Rick and Morty group costumes in 2015!
Nightmare Before Christmas Group Costume
Jack, Sally and Oogie
Tim Burton has a special way of doing things no matter what he touches. In the same creepy vein as Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of his greatest works and a true masterpiece in the eyes of fans. For this reason, Halloween and The Nightmare Before Christmas are joined at the hip. Let it be known far and wide that Nightmare Before Christmas costumes are always in style!
Johnny Depp Group Costume
Johnny Depp Characters
A very creative trend that's happening with group costumes is choosing an actor and highlighting the best costumes from their career. Johnny Depp, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, and Will Ferrell are all easy targets for this type of group getup given their costume-centric roles through time. In this installment, these ladies nailed a Johnny Depp tribute!
Jurassic Park Group Costume
Jurassic Park
When Jurassic World left a dino-sized footprint on the motion picture scene in 2015, a noticeable uptick in JP cosplay could be seen at Comic Con and other geeky gatherings around the country. In 2015, we can look for a similar trend for Halloween. Whether you want to go as the classic characters from Jurassic Park or the new ones from Jurassic World, you really can't go wrong in 2015 with an ensemble like this.
Kill Bill Group Costume
Kill Bill
The Crazy 88 battle in Kill Bill captured the Tarantino style better than just about any other scene in his vast and illustrious career. If you were looking for spurting blood, severed limbs, and all around creative Wire Fu, punctuated by complicated, mid-battle dialogue, look no further than this moment. Years later, calling back memories to a fan favorite like this is always fair game of group costumes!
Legends of the Hidden Temple Group Costume
Legends of the Hidden Temple
Remember, nostalgia is in like Flynn this year! This Legends of the Hidden Temple group costume will surely earn some high fives at the bar or Halloween party among young adults this year. Who as a 90s kid didn't dream about answering Olmec's questions with ease on their way to the Temple Run? With a simple custom t-shirt and helmet, you could easily nail this look for relatively cheap to boot.
Legos Group Costume
Legos Group
Cosplaying as variants of LEGO is a BIG trend in 2015, but let's be honest, this group really takes home the blue ribbon. We're counting a dozen here, now that is commitment! Got to love the inclusion of some Halloween-themed LEGO characters and even some unexpected additions, like Tiger Woods. If you are a committed cosplayer, constructing this LEGO group costume would be a huge winner!
Loofas Group Costume
Loofahs
The best part about a loofah group costume like this is how easy it is to pull off. Not to mention the vibrant colors! For a group of gals looking to save their money for a night on the town and who also want something functional and easy to move around in, this costume is a no-brainer. Just be careful not to get caught in the rain or there is really no telling what might happen!
Mad Max Group Costume
Mad Max
When it comes to post-apocalyptic flicks, you really have hundreds to choose from. But one of them arguably towers above most of the horde as a titan of innovation. That's Mad Max. With roots as deep as 1979, this film set the pace, motifs, and style for a genre. With costume options run amuck, all you really need to get started is some leather. Creative expression sold separately, so go nuts!
Mad Men Group Costume
Mad Men
Did anyone else just double take and think this was a screen shot from Mad Men? Now this is what group costuming is all about! You want to walk into the room and make everyone think they are back in the 1960s for just a moment. Isn't that the magic of a good Halloween costume in general? If your Mad Men group costume looks anything like this, people will be very impressed! We'll drink to that.
Mario Kart Group Costume
Mario Kart
When it comes to Mario Kart, there are a lot of fiends out there who take great pride in their skills. In fact, at HalloweenCostumes.com, we have a Mario Kart tournament once a year, so maybe we're a bit biased here. But at the end of the day, creativity is everything when it comes to group getups, so we had to include this awesome take on Mario Kart somewhere for the list to be complete.
Minions Group Costume
Minions
Minions are always up to no good, which makes them natural shoe-ins for groups looking to have a bit of fun this Halloween. If you knock something over, hey, you're a Minion. It's understandable! If you eat way too much candy, yep you called it. You're a Minion. Just shrug it off and have a great time. This is the year of the Minion after all! Know one will judge you for mischief making...that much.
MODOK and Group Costume
MODOK and Warrior Scientists
In a year where Marvel Superheroes come in plenty, finding fringe characters that not everyone will know gives you a chance to show your Marvel prowess. Like this MODOK group costume above, the curiosity of people passing by will be piqued in no time. So for comic book geeks like so many of us out there, finding a lesser known superhero or villain can be a real conversation starter.
Muppets Group Costume
Muppets
Muppets are forever when it comes to Halloween, but in 2015 they are even more relevant with the new Muppets TV show hitting the tube in September. In mockumentary style, the show will break down the fourth wall to show the internal dialogue of each character, similar to The Office. This will arguably make the characters more relatable than ever, making this a great 2015 costume option.
Ninja Turtles Group Costume
Ninja Turtles Babies
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle group costumes are up there in the top ten group costumes of any given year. The best part about these turtles in a half shell is their cross demographic relevance. Whether you are a group of girls, guys, or even babies, this is a good option for a group costume any year. While 2014 was the year of the rebooted movie, 2015 is still fertile ground for a TMNT group costume.
Orcs Group Costume
Orcs
If you didn’t laugh at this costume, you might not be a LOTR fan. This is one adorable and incredibly creative take on a Lord of the Rings group Halloween costume that you know made the family photo album for years to come. Any time you can take a group costume friendly flick like the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series and make it somehow new like this, you are sure to win!
Pac-Man Group Costume
Pac-Man
While Pac-Man is one of the oldest video game characters in history, his relevance on Halloween is eternal. In 2015, Pixels brought this classic character back into the forefront. And while reviews for the movie were not great, any time the public gets another look at Pac-Man, they are reminded of all those hours spent on the joystick. This makes 2015 a prime year to dust off the Pac-Man group costume.
Plastics Group Costume
Plastics
If you are still trying to make “Fetch” happen, a Plastics from Mean Girls group Halloween costume is a modern throwback worth considering in 2015. Nostalgia comes in layers it seems, with even decades' old movies somehow falling under the rosy retrospection you feel for older brands and movies. This is one of those instant classics with a cult following, and makes for a good group costume regardless of the year.
Price is Right Group Costume
Price is Right
Come on down! This Price is Right costume hits the mark perfectly. The contestants all have the recognizable name tags and bids, the showcase model looks as beautiful as ever, but, wait … two hosts? Bob AND Drew?! Hey, that's okay! This group costume pays homage to the best cure for a sick day home from school, back then AND now in 2015. Other suggestions include making more personalized t-shirts, like "Pick Me, Drew, It's My Birthday!"
Sailor Moon Group Costume
Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon - clumsy, schoolgirl by day, and pretty, crime-fighter by night! This group costume is super impressive, whether you're an anime fan or not! Thanks to Sailor Moon's large group of friends and partners, there can be a character for everyone, like Sailor Mars, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Venus. Another suggestion for this otaku Halloween group costume? Luna the cat, of course! And if you have a boy who wants to join in, Tuxedo Mask.
Scooby Doo Group Costume
Scooby Doo
Even if your family doesn't match up perfectly with Scooby and the gang, there are ways of making it work. This dad isn't afraid to dress as Velma for Halloween! If you have more people than five for your group Halloween costume this 2015, you can always throw in a few ghosts and ghouls. This family turned their wagon into the Mystery Machine, perfect for protecting the candy all the way home from trick-or-treating.
Shark Week Group Costume
Shark Week
Remember that week when you never left your couch? If you a Shark Week fiend, that might even be several years in the last 10 or so. Shark Week has become one of those phenomena that can’t quite be summed up other than saying, “What’s not to like about sharks?” These ladies took the fandom a step further with the Shark "Day of the" Week group costume. Let’s just hope they don’t run into any tornadoes!
Shrek Group Costume
Shrek
Even if makes you feel old to admit, the original Shrek is not a recent movie anymore, which lands it square in the ranks of nostalgia. Like, "remember when the baby-sitter took us to see Shrek?" In this costume, we see Puss in Boots, Fiona, Shrek, and one party-worn looking Donkey. Hey, we even see some fairy tale characters in the back ground. Now, start practicing those accents.
Star Wars Group Costume
Slave Leia
Alert! Alert! This is one scandalous group costume! While we say that Star Wars is relevant every year, the release of The Force Awakens this December 2015 helps make the rest of the world agrees with us. Celebrate one of the most-watched scenes in science-fiction history with a group of over a dozen Slave Leia's. Hey, Jabba is back there, too. I bet you hadn't even noticed....
Star Wars Bounty Hunters Group Costume
Star Wars Bounty Hunters
Who doesn’t want to be a Star Wars bounty hunter at least one night out of the year? Seriously though, while Boba Fett was only on the screen for a few scenes, he made a lasting impression on the Star Wars universe, making him an unforgettable character worthy of replication. This group used their creativity to imagine new takes on the bounty hunter look and nailed it.
Steampunk Group Costume
Steampunk
You might have thought the Steampunk craze was just a passing fad, but, boy, were you wrong! Have you been to any conventions or Renaissance Faires lately? The mechanical, yet old fashioned, but kind of futuristic, and kind looks like a train type fashion is here to stay! So pull out your favorite gears, chains, leather straps, and weird goggles, and just go as "Steampunk" this Halloween 2015. You can try a theme, too! Like Steampunk Avengers or Steampunk Mean Girls. It'd be fun!
Troll Dolls Group Costume
Troll Dolls
Like Beanie Babies, Pogs, or Tamagotchi, Troll Dolls are one toy you will have a hard time forgetting. Harping once again on the nostalgia beat, this group getup will give you the “Oh, now that’s clever!” reaction you are looking for. Everyone who had a toy or two knows their silly, frilly hair and bedazzled belly buttons, and will clamor around to take a picture without hesitation.
Will Ferrell Group Costume
Will Ferrell Costumes
It looks like these ladies are keeping up a tradition that seems to be a growing trend. If you remember, they look to be the same group who did Johnny Depp costumes earlier in this roundup. Will Ferrell seems like a shoe-in for a group costume motif following his most memorable costumes through his career, and they nailed this one again. What other celebrities could fit this mold? We see Buddy the Elf, Mugatu, and, the best, Ron Burgundy?
X-Men Group Costume
X-Men
The X-Men series has given us one of the best ensembles in comic book history. How many mutants have come and gone through the doors of Charles Xavier's School for the Gifted? PLENTY to choose from to make an awesome group costume this Halloween 2015. Wolverine, Storm, Mystique, they're all there, but there are more to choose from. And our favorite X-Men, the red frog on a motorcycle!
YOLO Group Costume
YOLO
OMG, #YOLO! So, IMO (you know, FOMO), let’s LOL this Halloween… If that as an alien language to you, this YOLO group Halloween costume probably isn’t for you. If on the other hand your smart phone is basically another appendage and your best conversations happen on Twitter, any acronym costume like this would make a pretty topical and timely pick for 2015.
Five Nights at Freddy's Group Costume
Five Nights at Freddy's
This scary game has taken the indie video game world by storm. Five Nights at Freddy's is ALL about the jump scares, which you can incorporate into your Halloween group costume this 2015 by hiding behind corners and then scaring the crap out of our friends. In the game, you act as a overnight security guard at a pizza joint and have to defend yourself when the animatronic characters start coming to life. This group did a great job at getting that creepy-cartoony vibe just perfect!

Did we miss anything? If you aren't keeping your group halloween costume ideas closely guarded until the big reveal, we would love to hear what your crew is thinking about dressing as for Halloween 2015. Inside-Out-Costumes---For-All-Ages_Header.jpg

The well received debut of Pixar’s latest film, Inside Out, already has fans asking for more. To date, the film has earned over 350 million box office bucks, making it the second highest grossing Pixar film next to the 2010 movie Toy Story 3. Given the extremely popular nature of the film, Pixar has confirmed that it will add an animated short to the DVD release. Riley’s First Date? will appear on the bonus features with the October 13th digital HD release followed by the Blu-ray release on November 3rd. Here is the trailer for the new short:

The Emotions

In the original Inside Out film, the emotions of Riley Anderson exhausted themselves in a never ending battle to do what they each thought was best for her. Since they are all very different emotions, agreements were in short supply - especially between Joy and Sadness. When they got lost in the long term memory center of Riley’s brain, Disgust, Anger, and Fear, were left to guide Riley through her day-to-day life. No spoilers here, we’ll let you see the film for yourself.

Movies tend to be a big part of that combination, especially superhero movies and some of the most recent kids movies. While Minion costumes are sure to be a top contender for 2015 Halloween costumes, Inside Out costumes are likely not far behind!

Evolution of Joker Infographic

No superhero and supervillain duo embody the eternal struggle of good and evil better than Batman and the Joker. Where Batman embodies justice, order, and all that is good, The Joker is the personification of evil, anarchy, and chaos. The Joker and Batman have been going at it since the 1940s, and will continue to do so through 2016 with the release of Suicide Squad. His origin in the real world is as mysterious as it is in the comics, with three different men claiming to have had varying degrees of responsibility in creating him. A character that was meant to be a one-off appearance eventually evolved into one of the most recognizable villains in popular culture.

Over his 75 year history the Clown Prince of Crime has appeared in cartoons, live action television, movies, video games, and comics. Explore his inspirations and how he has changed with this awesome evolution infographic.

Who is Kylo Ren?

Kylo Ren Header

We are just a few months away from the highly anticipated release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There was initially some skepticism amongst Star Wars fans when news broke that LucasFilm and the entirety of the Star Wars universe was sold to the Walt Disney Company. How would the notoriously kid-friendly company handle the more mature subject matter (ignoring the Ewoks) of Star Wars? Would they dilute the franchise and create a tame, new, PG-leaning trilogy? It’s safe to say any doubts super fans may have had were laid to rest  in the last few months.

After the teaser trailers were released online and the behind the scenes featurette was shown at San Diego Comic Con, the fandom hype reached a fever pitch. No small part of that excitement is due to director J.J. Abrams' secrecy regarding the plot and many of the important characters. One of those key characters is Kylo Ren, who looks to be the main villain of the film. We are going to break down everything official we know so far about Ren. We will not be covering any of the rumors or spoilers, just information that has come directly from Disney, J.J. Abrams or the cast.!

His parentage

parentage.jpg

[Source: Left | Top Right | Bottom Right]

The question of Kylo Ren’s parentage is one of the most important in the new Star Wars film. What makes it such a key part of the story is that it ups the emotional ante if Ren is the son of someone we know from the original trilogy. The official The Force AwakensKylo Ren action figure from Hasbro confirms that he is Force sensitive, stating “A dark warrior strong with the Force, Kylo Ren commands First Order missions with a temper as fiery as his unconventional lightsaber.” We know that Luke Skywalker is the last living Jedi at the end of Return of the Jedi, so the fact that another Force sensitive human is alive during the time period of The Force Awakens makes many think that he must be the offspring of either Luke or Leia Organa.

Characters like Ezra Bridger in the Star Wars: Rebels cartoon show that there are Force sensitive characters in the Star Wars universe, but that they generally need a Jedi to harness their skill and power. Who trained Ren? Who is pulling his strings? Is it Supreme Leader Snoke, the motion caption character being played by Andy Serkis? We will have to wait and see if these questions are answered in The Force Awakens, or in subsequent episodes of the trilogy.

His name

name

[Source: Left | Top Right | Bottom Right]

Immediately after being announced, fans made the connection between the name “Kylo Ren” and the name of one of the most beloved characters from the extended, Star Wars Legends universe, “Darth Revan.” Revan is a playable character in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic video game. The name similarity seems to be just a coincidence, with Abrams recently clarifying that Kylo Ren is not even his real name: “He is a character who came to the name Kylo Ren when he joined a group called the Knights of Ren.” What Abrams' comment means, if anything, is that this opens the door wide on more fan-theories that Ren is actually a Solo or a Skywalker, and that like Anakin Skywalker, when he turned to the dark side, he was given a powerful and imposing new title.

His Lightsaber

lightsaber.jpg

[Source: Left | Top Right | Bottom Right]

The first image we saw of Kylo Ren was the shadowy figure seemingly stalking someone through a dark forest, stopping in his tracks, and igniting a strange, three-pronged lightsaber. What has become known as the crossguard lightsaber, this unique weapon seems to be the key to understanding who Ren is, or at least, what type of personality he may possess. In a recent Entertainment Weekly story, an image of Ren featured a caption about “his homemade lightsaber.” Abrams also confirmed the lightsaber is “something that he built himself, and is as dangerous and as fierce and as ragged as the character.” The fact that Ren built the lightsaber himself says a lot. And the fact that the saber does not seem to be as high quality as those built by Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, suggests he may not be far along in his training, or he has not even received any formal training.

A 3D print model of the lightsaber was on display at the most recent San Diego Comic Con. The title of the display was “Kylo Ren’s hilt” and inside the case was an obviously amateur and cobbled together lightsaber - not nearly as elegant and smooth as the ones we have previously seen in the Star Wars films. It seems that Ren may be more of a Jedi fanboy than an actual Jedi.

His Appearance

apperance.jpg

[Source: Left | Top Right | Bottom Right]

The Darth Revan theorists, who despite the evidence to the contrary still hold tight to the idea that Ren is Revan, often point to the helmet as their most solid lead. Abrams seems keen to cut his own path into the world of Star Wars, so it's unlikely he would grab a fully formed character from outside canon. On the other hand, Abrams and his designers took inspiration from Revan’s mask as well as the classic Darth Vader helmet. He went so far as to confirm the Vader homage in his interview with Entertainment Weekly: “The movie explains the origins of the mask and where it’s from, but the design was meant to be a nod to the Vader mask."

Why he wears that mask is still a mystery but if he is the face of the First Order, it’s likely it is used to instill fear and intimidation. We have seen a picture of Ren without his mask on and it is obvious he does not need it for any sort of life-support or because of a disfiguration. Vader needed a mask to breath, but did it have to look so frightening? Of course not, but it helped him do his job as well as stay alive.

It may not seem like a lot of information, but the last months have frankly seemed like a deluge compared to where we were six to eight months ago. We have actors tied to character names, motives slowly starting to reveal themselves, and more information on the state of the Star Wars galaxy some 30 years after Return of the Jedi. In many ways it seems as if everything, and nothing, has changed. It will be compelling to see how Kylo Ren figures into this universe, a character who grew up hearing the tales of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. Who did he idolize? Who did he despise? What was his childhood like? We turn again to Abrams’ illuminating interview where he says, “Kylo Ren is not your prototypical moustache-twirling bad guy. He is a little bit more complex than that….”

One thing IS for sure about the mysterious Kylo Ren, though - he'd make for one killer Halloween costume! To view our entire selection of Kylo Ren costumes and accessories, as well as our additional Force Awakens offerings, CLICK HERE!

Muppet Takeover_Header

Fresh off of filming episodes for their own new show, the Muppets have gone wild. They think they're the talk of the studio and have gone out of control showing up on sets of other TV shows. While we're really excited for the premiere of the Muppets new show, we wanted to help wrangle them up and get things back in order. Here are 20 shows we found some of our favorite Muppet characters in after they wandered off their own set.

1. The Office

TheOffice_Walter.jpg

It all started back in 2011, following the Muppets movie. Newcomer Walter attended a company meeting on the set of The Office to get some ideas for the new show.

2. Arrow

Arrow_Kermit

The latest season of Arrow is all about Stephen Amell sporting the new “Green Arrow” costume. Kermit, being an advocate of the color green, naturally thought he’d fit in on set.

3. The Walking Dead

TheWalkingDead_Kermit.jpg

So fighting crime wasn’t Kermit’s thing. Fending off zombies in The Walking Dead? Not much better. Doesn’t look like he’ll be leaving Rick’s side anytime soon.

4. Big Bang Theory

Big Bang Theory_Kermit

The set of Arrow and The Walking Dead got a little too intense for Kermit, so he decided to head over to Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment on The Big Bang Theory to chat with the crew about what to do on “Anything can happen Thursday.”

5. Grey's Anatomy

GreysAnatomy_Piggy.jpg

Don’t worry, nothing happened to Miss Piggy. This is all part of her plan to get some face to face time with McDreamy in Grey’s Anatomy. See, looks like she’s moved on from Kermit after they broke up.

6. Once Upon a Time

OnceUponATime_Piggy.jpg

On second thought, perhaps Miss Piggy isn't taking this break-up with Kermit as well as we thought she was. Unless you want to end up like Snow White in Once Upon a Time, don’t accept any apples from the Muppet pig.

7. Marvel's Daredevil

Daredevil_Gonzo.jpg

Gonzo took on the most boring role of all. He’s just been driving a cab around various sets over the past couple weeks. He couldn’t resist pulling up to this fight scene in Marvel’s Daredevil to cheer on Matt Murdock.

8. Brooklyn Nine Nine

BrooklyNineNine_Rowlf.jpg

Rowlf stopped by the precinct at Brooklyn Nine Nine where the gang, to no surprise, was goofing off in the office. He looks like he fits right in as part of the K-9 unit.

9. Game of Thrones

GameOfThrones_WaldorfAndStatler.jpg

Statler and Waldorf are pretty vicious hecklers. Wonder what they had to say to Ned Stark and Jaime Lannister in this Game of Thrones fight scene.

10. Hollywood Game Night

HollywoodGameNight_Fozzie.jpg

Fozzie is a natural performer, so it’s no surprise that he wanted to get in with some fellow celebrities on an episode of Hollywood Game Night. I think we even heard Jane Lynch let out a “Wacka Wacka Wacka.”

11. True Detective

TrueDetective_Rizzo.jpg

With a love for mocking others and cracking jokes, it makes sense that Rizzo the Rat would stop by the set of True Detective. Season two wasn’t received as well as season one, and Rizzo sure let Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell know it.

12. Marvel's Agents of Shield

Agents of Shield_Bunson Beaker

Leave it to Bunson and Beaker to infiltrate the lab on Marvel’s Agents of Shield and bother Fitz and Simmons. They’re trying to save the world here, guys! Leave them be!

13. 2 Broke Girls

TwoBrokeGirls_SwedishChef.jpg

You might think that Swedish Chef would want to crash a cooking show, but the Williamsburg Diner from 2 Broke Girls is the perfect place for him. He can keep a low profile and herdy dur flerty floop all he wants.

14. House of Cards

HouseOfCards_Sam.jpg

After appearing as a CIA agent in Muppets Most Wanted, Sam Eagle wanted to drop in to keep tabs on Frank Underwood on House of Cards. Hopefully he gets on Frank’s good side, or he won’t be around for long.

15. Fresh Off the Boat

FreshOffTheBoat_Animal.jpg

Animal is just all over the place. We last saw him in this scene from the CBS comedy Fresh Off the Boat, before losing him again.

16. America's Got Talent

AGT_Sweetums

All apologies to Howie Mandel, but Sweetums loves entertainment and has some words for Howard Stern as he critiques the latest act on America’s Got Talent. He may look intimidating, but he’s a softy at heart.

17. Dancing With the Stars

DancingWithTheStars_Pepe.jpg

Pepe loves to dance. He NEEDs to dance. Watch him steal the show on Dancing with the Stars.

18. Gotham

Gotham_Electric.jpg

Penguin didn’t waste any time in Gotham rising up the ranks. When he opened his own nightclub, who knew he’d get Electric Mayhem to play there?

19. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

TheTonightShow_Floyd.jpg

Floyd just wants to play music all day every day. He was eager to join in alongside The Roots on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

20. Orange is the New Black

OrangeIsTheNewBlack_Janice.jpg

When she’s not playing guitar in Electric Mayhem, Janice likes to do yoga in her down time. We found her teaching a class on the set of Orange is the New Black

Well, we tracked down most of them. Sure, some of the actors from the other shows had fun with them, but we're pretty sure others were pretty annoyed (don't expect any Muppets to show up on Marvel's Agents of Shield anytime soon). The Muppets just need to stay focused on their own show. Who's your favorite Muppet? What popular TV show set would you crash if you had your pick? If you're excited for the Muppets new show, check out our selection of Muppets Halloween costumes

Game of Thrones Shame Costume DIY

SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! We all felt it in our bones. Our skin crawled with it and it was in our nightmares in the nights that followed. That was the awful magic at the end of Game of Thrones season five during Cersei Lannister's painful walk of shame through the streets of King's Landing. To no surprise, this is one Halloween costume we can expect to see on the streets for Halloween 2015!

This Game of Thrones Shame costume DIY will give you a solid starting point for making a big splash this Halloween with a questionably laughable, and truly disturbing couples costume for Halloween. Either pairing a nun with an inflatable doll for solo party-goers, or trying your hand at a Game of Thrones Shame couples costume like we did here, will be par for the course in this year's top "Why didn't I think of that?" costume. Without further ado, we bring you the finished product, along with a DIY list for pulling this costume off yourself!

Game of Thrones 'Shame' Costume

Game of Thrones Shame Couples Costumes

To achieve this look, you actually don't need to use too many products or even change them all that much right out of the packages. That is, of course, not factoring in points for bravery! Anyone daring enough to wear Cersei's bloody flesh suit getup will need to have plenty of that! All of that aside, here is how you can pull it off.

Inflatable Doll Costume - Shop      Blonde Mullet Wig - Shop       Theatrical Blood - Shop

Pieces of Wood, Black Spray Paint, Fishing Line - Sold separately       Airbrush Gun - Optional

The details are up to you, but here's how we used some of our products to make this ghastly costume in three easy steps:

Step 1 - Cut It!

Take that mullet wig of yours and you will see how perfect it is for the hack job they gave poor Cersei. Chop, chop, chop away! And remember, this doesn't need to be clean. Cut with reckless abandon, but don't cut it too short. That's about all that could go wrong here.

Step 2 - Bloody It!

We used a small airbrush spray gun to apply the blood, but you get the idea. This could be done pretty easily even by simply blotting and spraying the blood on with a straw or brush. If you want to chuck tomatoes and other food stuff at it, do it up! Either way, you want to look like you just finished the worst walk of shame of your entire life, so make it nasty and people will get the idea.

Step 3 - Censor It!

Obviously Cersei was entirely naked in this scene - well, her body double was anyway - but we thought it would be funny to really call out the "Look, I'm naked!" theme with some "censor bars" cut from from 2 x 2 boards we had lying around. Once cut, just spray paint the boards black, allow them to dry thoroughly, and tie on some fishingline to drape over the neck. You might also consider adding some cushion on the neck where the fishing line meets ths skin. We found it had a tendency to grind into the skin quite uncomfortably. Now you are almost ready to SHAME it up!

DIY Shame Nun Costume - Products Used

No Shame Cersei is complete without her Shame Nun. The good news is, this one is even easier! But isn't riding in a high horse usually pretty easy in general?

DIY Shame Nun Costume

Cowl From Sinister Sister Costume - Shop      Friar Tuck Costume - Shop

Bell - Sold Separately

All we did for this nun getup was combine these two costumes together - the head piece from the Sinister Sister nun plus the entire Friar Tuck costume, worn backwards. True, true, we also threw in a brown scarf to wrap around the neck to get the 'drapery' look. Also true: The colors are slightly off, we'll admit. But that's the best and funniest part about DIYs! Have some fun with it, and please don't take yourself too seriously. Cersei had this coming for some time now anyway, wouldn't you agree?

Don't forget! The best part about a Game of Thrones DIY shame costume is the liklihood that you will run into someone wearing a truly shameful costume out there on Halloween. You can give them a good ringing for their misdeeds!

The One That Got Away: Horror Movie Final Girls Through the Ages [Infographic]

Header.jpg

When the slasher genre started to really hit the mainstream around the mid-80s, there was a lot of outcry about its depiction of women. It is true that with so many slasher films flooding the market, more than a few fell into the trap of scantily clad, personality-less women running and stumbling, being murdered in the dark. But to focus on the worst aspects of the genre would do a disservice to some of the groundbreaking (and what many would call feminist) strides taken toward giving women agency and power over their lives, their sexuality, and their attacker.

The term "final girl" was coined in the early 90s to describe a “last woman standing” in a horror film. The final girl was the one to confront and defeat the killer at the end of the film, after making it through a gauntlet of terror. The 1996 film Scream highlighted this trope and drove it home for the masses by playing it with a tongue-in-cheek wink. Since then, films from the past have been critiqued through a new lens, shedding light on the early works in the genre that have paved the way for the final girls of today. We’ve created an infographic detailing some of the iconic final girls throughout modern cinema, highlighting their survival status, the main threat against their lives, and their weapon of choice. Take this visual journey with us through the world of masked maniacs, ancient aliens, and resurrected demons—just don’t trip.

If you read through our infographic and where dismayed that your favorite final girl was not illustrated, we feel your pain. There were simply too many final girls to list in one piece! A few that we love, but did not make the list include: Jessica from Let’s Scare Jessica to Death (1971), Suzy Bannion from Suspiria (1977), Heather Mills from I Spit on Your Grave (1978), Kirsty Cotton from Hellraiser (1987), Yasmine from Frontier(s) (2007), and Samantha Hughes from The House of the Devil (2009). Are there any others you would have liked to see on our list? Which final girl is your absolute favorite? Let us know in the comments below!

If you plan on dressing up as classic ghoul, monster, killer, or hero(ine), we’ve got more than a few horror Halloween costumes available. You could go with the deluxe Michael Myers costume or take it all the way back to 50s black and white horror with a Creature from the Black Lagoon mask.

(It's a trick question, because he spends most of his time in his birthday suit, but, if he did shop for clothes, we doubt that he could fit into most regular sizing). That's what makes a Nintendo costume a great choice for big and tall men. Since many of the characters have a larger body, it only makes sense that they'd make great choices for bigger guys.

Do you remember what your answer used to be when someone asked you, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Most people don't end up being the race-car drivers and police officers that they had planned on being, but that doesn't mean you can't relive your old dreams a little now that you're all grown-up. These plus size uniform costumes are designed to help you out with that.

We sort of wish we could live in a time where dragon-slaying was a real career opportunity, but alas, the best we can do is these costumes mixed with some imagination. If your imagination hungers for an adventure, why not try hopping into a Spartan costume and heading to battle? If you're feeling rather regal, you can always try conquering the world in a Caesar costume.
