Haunted Hotels Header

Planning your next vacation? This map of haunted hotels is a ghost hunter's paradise. Take a tour of the United States and stay in some of the most haunted hotels in each state. You'll have to sleep with one eye open in some of these places so we sincerely hope you don't plan on taking this time to catch up on sleep. The accounts of paranormal activity in each venue varies, but the one thing they all have in common is some of their residents have never checked out. Prepare to see apparitions, be touched in your sleep by ghostly hands, or even levitated. (Okay, that last one sounds pretty cool!) Some of these permanent occupants enjoy playing tricks and others will not hesitate to tell you to get out of their hotel. If you are feeling brave, we've created a printable map with the shortest route to visit all the hotels in the contiguous states. We also did our homework and whipped up an infographic to help you learn a little bit about each of these haunted hotels, including the spookiest rooms to request at each location, in order to best prepare you for your journey!

Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Staff

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was established around the year 990 in the highlands of Scotland. Its four founders–Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin–succeeded in becoming the “finest school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world”. That’s if you believe Rubeus Hagrid, which we generally do. Hogwarts is prestigious largely because of its excellent professors and support staff, which keep the school running and its students safe. Or relatively safe. It is a wizarding school, after all.

In this infographic, we look at the most important staff members at Hogwarts from September 1991 through May 1998, the years that Harry Potter attended (or should have attended) the school. With a few exceptions, we show the positions these staff members held at the Start-of-Term Feast held on September First each year.

One of our favorite fancy Whos is the one and only, Martha May Whovier, featured in the Jim Carrey movie Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. She’s the love interest of Mayor Augustus Maywho and secretly, the Grinch’s, too. If you’re fun, flirty, and fabulous, dressing as Martha May is your calling this Christmas season. Plus - she does wonders with that automatic Christmas light machine, a true talent.

Of course, what's a Grinch party without the main man himself? If you're cuddly as a cactus, charming as an eel, et cetera, et cetera, you've got a few options. You can either go casual with a Grinch-inspired ugly Christmas sweater, or go all out with the full costume, mask and all. If you're not feeling like pulling an Elphaba from Wicked and donning all green body paint, maybe the Grinch isn't for you. Then, how about one of our Cindy Lou costumes or Santa Claus? It doesn't matter which level of costume you want to go with, as long as you have fun and sing the Welcome Christmas song at least once, you'll have a great party.

 The Grinch Makeup Tutorial

And lastly, if you want to dress as the Grinch AND impress your friends with the makeup look, we have a tutorial for you. Watch the video above for tips and instructions on how to become the mean one, Mr. Grinch. See our Grinch costume blog post from a few Christmas' ago, too, for more details.

How To Decorate

Grinch Decor

Anything magically imagined by Dr. Seuss incorporates zany, eccentric, and whimsical design. In the land of Whoville. everything red and green is socially accepted and expected. To continue with the Who-tastic costumes, you'll want the decor to match the mood. Decorating the party should be a blast and don’t be afraid to think outside of the box for wacky new ideas!

What To eat: A Who Feast

Who Feast

[Source: Seuss' Soda | Who Pudding | Green Grinch Popcorn | Grinch Heart Cookies | Grinch Hot Chocolate]

The Who Feast may be one of the most important parts of Christmas in Whoville. Food such as Who-hash and roast beast should be on the menu for the evening, as well as Who-pudding accompanied, by many other savory sweets!

What To DoGrinch Party Activities

[Source: Grinch Wall Pin | Grinch Bingo | Grinch Reindeer Toss]

Grinch Party Crafts

[Source: Grinch Ornaments | Grinch Toilet Paper Roll | Grinch Paper Plate]

To work off that entire plate of roast beast you just finshed (as a typical Who should), a friendly activity should follow for endless entertainment and engagement! Pin the heart on the Grinch, bingo, and a Max the Reindeer toss will get those calories burning for sure. If your party goers are too stuffed from the feasting, taking it easy with a few simple crafts might be the route worth taking.

What to Watch

How-The-Grinch-Stole-Christmas

If Dr.Seuss’How The Grinch Stole Christmas Jim Carrey edition isn’t already playing in the background from the minute you put your roast beast in the oven, your heart must be 3 sizes too small! This is one of our most favorite Christmas movies and likewise for both young and old. Your party guests will be quoting infamous lines and sharing laughs together all night long. Of course, the classic is classic for a reason, so the 1966 TV special should definitely be in rotation, as well. Boris Karloff has never sounded so scary...

Are you planning on having a themed holiday party this year? Why not have it be Grinch themed! Christmas Movie Costumes

Christmas has the best stuff. Best decorations, best cookies, best music – and of course, best MOVIES. Just think of all the warm holiday memories you have that include cuddling up by the tree, big bowl of popcorn in lap, watching the same movies year after year. With there being so many great holiday movies, it only can mean one thing. There’s plenty of opportunity to dress up! No, we’re not talking about putting on a suit or fancy dress, we’re talking costumes! Check out some of the best Christmas costumes from the movies right here!

1. Santa Claus movies

Premiere Santa Suit - Shop    Women's Santa Suit - Shop    Regal Santa Suit - Shop

Of course, there are plenty of Christmas movies focused around Santa Claus. From tradition Santa’s like the one from Miracle on 34th Street or more modern ones like Tim Allen’s snarky Scott Calvin from The Santa Clause and Billy Bob Thorton’s over-the-top Bad Santa, you’ll have enough options to portray in your Santa Claus suit.

2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Grinch Costume - Shop    Christmas Girl Costume - Shop

Feeling a bit grouchy about the holidays? If you’re actually considering stealing Christmas to try to make it go away, maybe you’ll want to dress up as The Grinch for the holidays. On the other hand, you may want to be a Who from Whoville to try and teach the Grinch a lesson about holiday cheer.

3. A Christmas Story

Leg Lamp Costume - Shop    Pink Bunny Costume - Shop    Fragile Box Costume - Shop

Anyone who has watched A Christmas Story can call out a holiday experience that they relate to. It could be a fixation on something specific you really wanted like a Red Ryder BB gun or it could be staring in horror at a pair of bunny footie pajamas that a distant relative sent to you.

4. Elf

Buddy the Elf Costume - Shop    Jovi Elf Costume - Shop

No movie has become an instant Christmas classic faster than the hilarious Elf. You can dress up as Buddy and cut out snowflakes, make your own toys, and consume copious amounts of maple syrup. With that much sugar intake, you’ll be spreading Christmas cheer all over the place! Just be careful crossing the street; the yellow ones don’t stop.

5. The Polar Express

Polar Express Santa Costume - Shop    Polar Express Train Conductor Costume - Shop    Polar Express Elf Costume - Shop

The Polar Express was an animated film released in 2004 based on the classic children's book. Tom Hanks voiced many characters in the film, including the conductor of the Polar Express itself. Dressing up as him, or maybe someone a little bit more recognizable (ahem, Santa or an elf) would be a great treat on Christmas Eve for book-loving families.

6. Christmas Vacation

Christmas Vacation Clark Griswold Costume - Shop    Christmas Vacation Cousin Eddie Costume - Shop

You think your family might be a little weird? Try spending Christmas at the Griswold residence. Even if you dress up as Clark Griswold or Cousin Eddie, you'll hopefully avoid a Christmas disaster.

7. Krampus

Krampus the Christmas Demon Costume - Shop

One of the most terrifying legends of Christmas has finally been portrayed on the big screen. Krampus the Christmas demon is known for stealing naughty children, so this costume would be great for scaring kids into good behavior.

8. Mean Girls

Mean Girls Christmas Costume - Shop

Mean Girls may not be a Christmas movie, but these Mean Girls Santa outfits are perfect for the holidays. Be just like the Plastics and dress up in these for a performance of "Jingle Bell Rock" or any other of your favorite Christmas songs. But on Wednesdays, we wear pink!

9. Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

Ride a Reindeer Costume - Shop    Reindeer Costume - Shop    Women's Reindeer Costume - Shop

Do you recall the most famous reindeer of all? Don't be left out on the Island of Misfit Toys. Dress up as everyone's favorite reindeer and you'll light up the Christmas party just like Rudolph lights up the night sky for Santa Claus!

10. Frozen

Anna Costume - Shop    Olaf Costume - Shop    Elsa Costume - Shop

While not technically a Christmas movie, Frozen is a great movie for the winter season. Seeing those beautiful wintery scenes makes you just want to curl up by the fire with some hot chocolate. Besides, the movie includes a message about loving family. So, when you’re with family around the holidays, why not figure out who is an Anna, who is an Elsa, or who is an Olaf?

11. A Christmas Carol

Ebeneezer Scrooge Costume - Shop    Ghost Costume - Shop

Whoever thought a movie about being visited by a series of ghosts (scary ghosts!) on Christmas Eve night would not only come with an important lesson for the holidays, but also end up as a timeless Christmas classic? This Scrooge costume is perfect for anyone who has uttered the phrase "Bah Humbug" in late December. Someone could also dress as a ghost if they'd like to portray a haunting presence (or deliver some haunting presents).

12. Peanuts

Peanuts Lucy Costume - Shop    Peanuts Charlie Brown Costume - Shop    Peanuts Snoopy Costume - Shop

Another Christmas classic with an important message. Despite the small, droopy tree and others' obsessions with material objects, Charlie Brown knows the true meaning of Christmas. Want to direct your own Christmas pageant? You can dress up as Charlie himself. If you're more interested in messing with old Chuck, maybe Lucy, or even Snoopy would be better options.

What's your favorite Chrismas movie? Are you thinking of dressing as any characters from your favorite Christmas movies? Let us know if there's anyone you think we missed. Our honorable mentions go to the Wet Bandits from Home Alone and Jack Skellington from A Nightmare Before Christmas (but we all know that's a Halloween movie, right?). You can check out our Christmas costumes and Movie costumes so you can have a fun and memorable Christmas dressing up as your favorite characters. Happy holidays!

Banned WWE Moves

How many times have you watched a professional wrestling match and thought, "that CANNOT be safe"? Well, most of the time those moves really are safe, believe it or not. After years of training, the performers in the ring know exactly how to execute each move to only look devastating, while making sure that both the inflictor and receiver walk away with all their bones and limbs intact. However, in the long history of pro-wrestling and, more specifically, the WWE itself, there are a few moves that have popped up that really aren’t safe at all. These moves can have a high-risk of real injury due to the precise timing needed to pull the maneuver off correctly. One forgotten tuck, one split second early or late, one missed cue can have real consequences in these dangerous moves. In this infographic, we show you nine of these banned moves that WWE has forbidden to be performed – tricks that have either been modified to be more safe or are completely banned from the ring itself. From kicks straight to the head to drops right on the head to chairs hit directly to the head, we urge you, don’t try this at home.

There are many, many more moves out there in the world that, while specifically haven't been nixed by the WWE, are probably not too welcome in a professional ring for an event that plays on network TV for family viewing. A quick trip down the rabbithole on Google and YouTube will take you where you wanna go if you're into that sort of thing! The Royal Rumble is coming up on Sunday, January 29th, this year, so you'll want to be prepared. Check out our infographic on Royal Rumble stats to study up. If you want to want to watch the event looking like a pro-wrestler, we have the WWE costumes for you. But, again, please promise not to try Wings of Love on your baby brother. Please.

How to Throw an Oscars Party

Yes, it’s that time of year again! Why, it seemed like just yesterday that everyone was sitting at the edge of their seats, wondering if The Revenant would walk home with all of the awards, or if Mad Max: Fury Road could race to the finish line, getting an underdog win. Now, with the new list of nominees we can all only ponder who will reign victorious. There can be only one! (Why wasn’t The Highlander nominated this year?) Of course, a big award celebration like the Oscars is a great way for you to throw a party, so we’ve put together some tips for throwing a successful party for the Academy Awards. These party ideas should help you get your party plans in gear for the ceremonious occasion.

Twas the night before the Oscars, when all through the party

Not a creature was stirring, not even Tom Hardy;

The movie posters were hung by the red carpet with care,

In hopes that the golden prize soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of Judy Hopps danced in their heads.

Movie Costumes to Wear

This year marks the 89th Academy Awards, which means there are 89 years’ worth of winners from the last century. That’s a lot of great characters, compelling stories, and, of course, renowned outfits. Parties are always more fun with costumes, so why not make your Oscar party a themed dress-up bash? The lengthy history of the Academy Awards means that there are plenty of great award-winning characters to dress like. There are also a whole list of potential winners for this year to choose from; just look at some of these great costumes based on great films:

Oscar Party Snack Ideas

Popcorn Bar

[Source: Top | Bottom]

The glue that holds any great party together is the snacks! Have you ever been to a great party that didn’t have great snacks? Yeah, didn’t think so! Since the Academy Awards is truly a celebration of movies, the food should reflect that long tradition of a visit to a movie theater to check out the latest blockbuster. The premiere snack of choice for any visit to the theater has always been popcorn, but you’re going to want to add a little pizazz to the classic movie treat. We have two words for you: popcorn bar! That’s right; a popcorn bar is the perfect way to infuse that theater style into your party food. All you need are some simple items from this list:

  • Microwave Popcorn
  • M&M's
  • Reese's Pieces
  • Peanuts
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Milk Duds
  • Gummi Bears
  • Any other movie candy that you can't live without!

Just pour your various ingredients in separate bowls with scoops. Give each party member a small bowl of their own and let them customize their own snack bowl! Who will choose the wackiest combo? Only time will tell!

Well, now that you have a few ideas, it's time to send the invitations and get that party started! What costume do you want to wear for the Oscars? Which movies do you think will take home the most Oscars and do you think that Highlander will make surprise appearance and steal all the awards? (That's what we're hoping for!) Check out our movie costumes, start popping that popcorn, and enjoy the show!

NASCAR Tough Tracks

Every sport has their "big game" and, usually, it is a grand finale with the best teams competing at the very end of the season to claim the most respected title: champion. But not for NASCAR. Instead, they start the season with the most prestigious race, the Daytona 500, which also offers the largest pay day for the top finishers. For many racecar drivers, their goal is to one day make it to Victory Lane at the Daytona 500. Unfortunately, many of them fall short of this goal due to the difficulty of the track and for some, a string of bad luck. Even though Daytona International Speedway has a reputation for its massive wrecks and high speeds, it isn't the only race track on the NASCAR circuit that drivers have difficulty navigating. We decided to take a look at some of the toughest tracks in NASCAR, along with the drivers who have been fortunate enough to take the most victory laps at each of these raceways.

The Evolution of Link

Hey! Listen! What was your first Zelda game? Some players have been with the series since 1987, the year the first game was released in America. (The Legend of Zelda officially was first released in 1986 in Japan.) Other players joined the Hyrule adventure in 1998, over a decade later, with the Nintendo 64's Ocarina of Time. And we imagine now, new, young players picking up their 3DS and helping guide Toon Link through his quest in the handheld entries to the franchise. Throughout all of these games, our hero, Link, has evolved and transformed, little by little, due to graphics upgrades, designer and developer choices, outfits, and even hair color. In our infographic, we show all of these changes and give you insight into why the differences happened. So, if you're as excited as we are to plug in the Nintendo Switch for the first time on March 3rd, and play the newest Zelda game, Breath of the Wild, we hope you enjoy this blog. It's dangerous to go alone! Take this.

Evolution of the Power Rangers header image

It’s Morphin Time! The Power Rangers are back in theaters for the first time in over twenty years and they’ve brought a new look with them. The latest version of the Rangers will feature an all-new cast with more futuristic uniforms and Zords, but will also include some familiar faces. Power Rangers is a reboot that will feature the original Rangers and other characters from the first Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series that debuted in the US in 1993.

In a world where reboots have been more prominent, it makes sense that Power Rangers would get the opportunity to reuse characters and elements from the original series. One of the facts people may not realize is that Power Rangers itself actually reuses footage from the Japanese tokusatu Super Sentai. For the most part, scenes featuring the English-speaking actors were spliced with fight scenes from its Sentai source. Each season of Power Rangers is paired with a different season of Super Sentai, which explains why there are so many different uniforms as they had to match with the source. Being that Power Rangers is in its 24th season (with a 25th confirmed), there have been quite a few different uniforms over the years. Check them all out in our infographic below!

Girl power Header

Girls rock. It’s really quite as simple as that. Strong women have been blazing a path to the future for centuries now, even if the history books haven’t always given them the proper attention that they deserve. Even pop culture has been bringing us a wide array of tough girls who kick butt, take names, and make history. Of course, that makes dressing up as one of your favorite female heroes all the more satisfying. Not only do you get to express your inner strength, but you get to manifest in a cool costume of one of the many women who’ve left their mark on this world. Below, you can find some of our best collections of girl power inspired costumes.

First, let’s take a look a real-life, historic female figures. Much of history shines the spotlight on men, but the cogs of progress would never keep turning without strong women blazing a path forward! All the way back in ancient Egypt, Cleopatra used cunning and savvy political alliances to take control of her country. Betsy Ross created the iconic flag that became the symbol of the U.S. of America, which still acts a strong icon in western society. Harriet Tubman advocated for the rights of all humans when she valiantly defied racism, despite the potential for dire consequences. Annie Oakley showed the world that women could be better sharpshooters than the boys and advocated that women should be more independent. Rosie the Riveter symbolized the resilient nature of working women of World War II, who played a crucial role producing the munitions needed to continue the fight. These costumes represent all the tough women in history who never gave up!

The silver screen has also brought us memorable female leads. Women have been taking more proactive roles in Hollywood each year, from deadly warriors like Xena to hard hitting baseball stars like Dottie Hinson, there are plenty of great role models to choose from. We even had an all new line-up female Ghostbuster who were kicking spectral butt and taking names. Then, there are characters like Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen and Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones, who have taken the reigns as political powerhouses. We even have Beatrix Kiddo from Kill Bill stepping foot into the world of action movies. Each of one these characters are a great idea for any girl trying to get into the spirit of girl power in popular culture. These costume ideas are all versions of some of the girl power seen in TV and movies.

Adult Storm Costume - Shop         Valkyrie Costume - Shop             Kid's Batgirl Costume - Shop

Originally, comic books were a boys’ club. That began to shift when William Moulton Marston created Wonder Woman in 1941. Marston’s wife suggested that he make a female superhero and together, the couple ended up creating the now famous hero. Marston, a psychologist, believed firmly in the ideals of feminism and used Wonder Woman as a way to express some of those ideas. These days, we’re seeing comic book publishers infuse their pages with more strong female characters, rather than some of the tired tropes of the past. Marvel has brought us Storm, one of the defining characters in the X-Men series, along with Spider-Gwen. Even the mighty Mjolnir has chosen a new female wielder to take on the mantle of Thor. It certainly is a sign of a changing tide! These costumes reflect some of the hardest hitting female heroes in the superhero game.

Adult Ahsoka Tano Costume - Shop          Jyn Erso Costume - Shop      Deluxe Padme Costume - Shop

The Star Wars universe brings us a fairly long history of strong characters. Back in 1977, George Lucas introduced us to Princess Leia, a headstrong leader of the Rebel Alliance who was more into giving orders than taking them. Later, Padme Amidala showed us that politicians could do more than just shout at each other during senate hearings when she retook her throne on Naboo. Ahsoka Tano came to the rescue of the Republic on countless occasions during the Clone Wars. More recently, Jyn Erso taught us that anyone can rise to ranks of a hero, even a criminal with a spotted past, and Rey found herself able to go toe to toe with Kylo Ren in a duel. Despite the fact that she sided with the villains, Captain Phasma shows great ambition by rising to the top of the ranks in the First Order’s forces. All of these costumes capture the nature of all the powerful women in the galaxy far, far away.

Mikasa Ackerman kicks some Titan butt in Attack on Titan, while Tina Belcher and Lisa Simpson show the world that smart, sassy girls can accomplish anything they set their minds to. What is Cosplay?

So what do we mean when we say “cosplay”? In short, it’s making and wearing a costume that represents a character from pop culture, whether it’s comics or film or television. Some cosplayers put together a costume from clothes and accessories, while other sew or build everything from scratch. The important distinction is that you can’t buy these costumes off the rack, they all require some amount of artistry and creativity. Here are some examples:

Bastion from Overwatch cosplay

[source]

This is Bastion from Overwatch as cosplayed by Mathoz. Photography by Gautier Bld Photography.

Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones cosplay

[source]

This is Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones as cosplayed by Omar Diego Milla Machuca. Photography by Lenin Tadeo Rodriguez.

Harley Quinn cosplay

This is from a Harley Quinn costume and makeup tutorial made by us. We went for a fairly accurate and straight-forward representation of the character as she appeared in Suicide Squad.

Wonder Woman cosplay

Here’s our take on a pop art Wonder Woman. This has a more stylistic halftone effect like you’d find in comic books.

Owen Grady from Jurassic World cosplay

Now this is Owen Grady surrounded by Raptors from Jurassic World. Sometimes it’s fun to go for comical and unrealistic.

So what are you waiting for? Read the full rules here and send your best cosplay image to contests@fun.com!

Well, have you entered the contest yet? If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments below! And if you’re still working on your cosplay, remember that we carry plenty of accessories for all kind of costumes!

Let’s start out with a timeless and go-to costume for the big game: The referee! Often the source of consternation from fans, it’s all too easy to poke fun at the ref for botching the big call. A traditional referee costume will let you call party fouls on your fellow fans in the crowd, or a sexy referee costume might help you make a match with a fellow fan who has a fine appreciation for the rulebook. And of course, the blind referee costume will let you make that classic statement… those zebras just don’t know what they’re doin'! And, of course, you can always top off a referee costume with an actual zebra mask for a real funny touch.

You could also go to the gridiron in a polyfoam football costume to show your all around appreciation for the game, or dress your little ones in an authentic NFL costume set for their first trip to the big game. An NFL mask saves you precious time on doing your facepaint in the morning (not to mention the cleanup), but we also sell plenty of makeup to make sure your face is painted in your team's colors. So going in a sports costume might make you famous, but one-upping the team's mascot with your own mascot costume? That's going to make you legendary! We have a variety of animal costumes and "almost an animal" costumes that would be perfect for your trip to the arena. You could be a slam dunking bull, a ferocious bulldog, or even a hopped up kangaroo! To stretch your imagination even further, consider going in a mascot chicken costume to help distract the opposing team during free throws, or go as a Sasquatch to have the legendary creature supporting your home team. Because nobody messes with Sasquatch!

Do you love sports movies? Yeah, we do too! Whether you're into serious sports biopics or more lighthearted jaunts like Blades of Glory or Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, we have epic sports movie themed costumes that will let you bring your favorite fictional characters to life. Grab a Rocky Balboa mask and get ready to yell out "Adrian!" or choose one of our exclusive A Leage of their Own costumes to join the All-American Girls Professional Baseball Assocation. Whichever costume you choose, we're sure it's going to be a knock-out and a home run!

Which of course, brings us back to where we started, the green man Zentai suit. "The Green Men" terrorized the opposing team's penalty box at Rogers Center, home of the Vancouver Canucks, from December 2009 until they retired after the 2014-2015 season. But their antics will truly go down in the history books of sports fandom. Vince Vaughn cutouts, magic tricks, throwing waffles... you name it, if it could be done to try and rattle an opposing player, these two did it. Since they (along with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) inspired so many others to attend games in spandex Zentai suits, you know that we most definitely sell the iconic green suit with other terrific colors to choose from as well. Pick one up to up the ante on your arena antics!

Phins? Fins? Dolphin costumes? If you're a Miami Dolphins fan, it seems like going to the game in a Dolphin costume is pretty much a no-brainer!

We don't care how many hours of prepping and painting are involved, customizing a Stormtrooper costume with your NFL team's colors and logos is a downright awesome idea. And who knows, maybe the power of the Dark Side will help turn your teams record around!

Okay, so this was kind a of once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but the fan who wore his Marty McFly costume to the Cubs playoff games in 2015 seemed to be hoping that the team would win the World Series as predicted in Back the the Future II. While that prediction didn't come true, Cubs fans didn't have to wait long with the team winning it all in 2016!

Sometimes when choosing a costume, the best idea is to just keep it simple. These guys are clearly "Bananas for the Bills" as their sign states, and the banana costumes simply seal the deal. We're on board with the concept, and we have to say that we heartily endorse it too. After all, as the late Tim Russert would say, "If it's Sunday ... go Bills!"

So what do you think? Did we give you enough costume choices to sate your appetite for game day? Are your creative juices really flowing now? Are you ready for your fleeting moment of Jumbotron glory or to be featured on the national broadcast!? Then check out our sports costumes and make your selections. And let us know how your trip to the stadium goes... because we never, ever, get tired of seeing our costumes in action!

Guardians of the Galaxy Easter Eggs

What’s crackin’ readers? Easter is around the corner and we are less than a month away from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to grace our presence in theaters and more than likely get some sweet throwback music stuck in our heads for the summer. The latest movie, which is the fifteenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will feature the return of our favorite heroes along with other familiar faces in different roles, and even some new friends and foes as well.

We’re so egg-cited for the new movie that we couldn’t help but create some fun Easter egg costumes featuring characters from Marvel’s favorite group of misfits. Check them out below!

The Guardians of the Galaxy

"Groot, put your seatbelt on!"

It took awhile for Star Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax to come together as a team initially, but now they’re back and ready to save the galaxy once again! What kind of shenanigans will they get into while on this adventure? We're not quite sure, but it sure looks like we'll be seeing plenty more of the fun dynamic between each of them. You can make the whole team of Guardians as eggs and even Star Lord's ship, the Milano, if you want something egg-xtra to hold them in!

Yondu, Taserface, Nebula, and Mantis

"You feel...love!"

Yondu and Nebula aren’t new faces, in particular, but it appears they’re now on the Guardians' side this time around (maybe not the whole time). Yondu, however, seems to be facing mutiny from his fellow Ravagers, led by newcomer Taserface (who is as ugly as his name makes him sound). The team is also joined by Mantis, who we don't get to see much of, but she does reveal Star Lord's "deepest, darkest secret" in one of the trailers

The Villain: Ayesha

"Just who do you think you are?"

Ayesha Egg Costume Printable - Download

Being that Ronan the Accuser was vanquished in the first film and Thanos is shaping up to be the big bad in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War, Guardians looks to feature a brand new villain in Ayesha. Ayesha is the High Priestess of a colony known as the Sovereign and we don't know much about her aside from the fact that the wants to destroy the Guardians. Oh, she's also really, really gold.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer

Who else might show up on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? We know that Star Lord’s father, Ego the Living Planet, will appear. Anyone familiar with Ego knows that he can take many forms, but in the latest trailer, he looks strikingly similar to Kurt Russell. According to director James Gunn, the film will also include the return of several others, more newcomers, and even a role for Sylvester Stallone that has been kept under wraps. Check out the latest trailer below.

Who’s your favorite Guardians of the Galaxy character? We really like Rocket and Groot and are excited to have been able to create them in Egg form for Easter. Would you like to see any other characters as eggs? If you’re a fan of Marvel, why not check out our Avengers eggs. We’ve also made egg costumes of characters from Adventure Time and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They’re all egg-ceptional, so why not dress up your eggs and dress yourself up in Guardians of the Galaxy costumes or other cool superhero costumes as well. Egg-cellent!

April 2017 Cosplay Contest Winners

The ballots are in, the votes have been tallied, the numbers have been tabulated, the sums have been checked, and all kinds of other voting things happened. After much deliberation, we have selected the winners of our HalloweenCostumes.com April 2017 Cosplay Contest. Remember that the prizes were $750 (First Place), $400 (Second Place), and $200 (Third Place) in store credit to HalloweenCostumes.com or Fun.com for putting together a truly awesome cosplay.

Before we get to the winning cosplay contestants, we’ve got some big news. We picked this round of winners, but there were so many mind-blowing entries that we want to let the fans decide next time! Be sure to check our blog frequently (or just subscribe to our RSS feed) for your chance to vote!

Here are the winners:

First Place

Vivid Vivka as the Witch Doctor

Vivid Vivka as the Witch Doctor from Diablo 3. We loved how outrageous this cosplay was, the little details and contrasting colors, plus the amount of work that must have gone into it. (This is a common theme among the winners.) The green digital effects were a nice touch, too. (Photography by Saffels Photography.)

Second Place

Ebony Amber as Jareth

Ebony Amber as Jareth from Labyrinth. This was an all-around fun gender-swapped cosplay. In her submission, Ebony Amber mentioned that the beads weren't glued, but were all sewn by hand!

Third Place

JediManda as Padmé Amidala

JediManda as Padmé Amidala from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The accuracy and attention to detail here is fantastic. You can feel the texture of the cloth just by looking at it! (Photography by Alexandra Lee Studios.)

What do you think? Were you as impressed as we were with these fantastic costumes? Let us know in the comments! And remember that it’s not over with: we’ll be running another contest soon, and this time we’ll let the fans vote on the winner! In the meantime, check out some of our own Star Wars costumes!

No Droids Served Here: Scum and Villainy of the Mos Eisley Cantina

If the Mos Eisley Spaceport is a “wretched hive of scum and villainy”, then surely Chalmun’s Cantina is the center of that hive. Popularly known as the “Mos Eisley Cantina”, Chalmun’s is the dim bar where Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first meet Han Solo and Chewbacca in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. But in addition to freighter pilots and smugglers like Han Solo, the cantina is home to bounty hunters and imperial spies and men with “the death sentence on twelve systems”. No droids, though, because the bartender Wuher likes to keep out the riff-raff.

This is a visual guide to the many colorful characters in Chalmun’s Cantina on that single day in year 0 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin). Of course, in the real world, these characters were filmed over the course of several weeks in 1976: exterior shots in Ajim, Djerba, Tunisia on April 2-3 and interior shots on Stage 6 at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, England on April 13-21. (A final set of close-ups was also filmed at Hollywood Center Studios in Hollywood, California in early 1977.) Our guide is based primarily on in-universe Star Wars canon sources and behind-the-scenes details. Any no-longer-canon “Legends” (formerly the “Expanded Universe”) sources are noted accordingly.

What did you think? Who is your favorite character from Chalmun’s Cantina? In fact, let’s open up the comments to Star Wars in general. Where were you when you first saw A New Hope? How many times have you seen The Last Jedi teaser? We’d like to thank the StarWars.com Databank, Wookieepedia, and AmShak at The Bothan Spy Forums for some facts used in this guide, and we can’t forget the (often uncredited) actors and artists and designers who brought these characters to life. If all this talk has got you in the Star Wars mood, remember that we carry all kinds of Star Wars costumes for adults and kids!
